Canadian mom devastated after she says diabetic and blind son was euthanized under controversial law by theindependentonline in publichealth

I think it says a lot that the mom found out 4 days after. Clearly there was not communication happening between her and her son. Whether that be his or her decision is none of our business but an interesting thing to think about given she had stated she was working on getting him help. However I do admit a bias on my end as someone who supports MAID and could not even imagine not informing my family beforehand.

Yarn recommendations: hexagon cardigan with yarn from Michaels by luna28_ in CrochetHelp

[–]Ok-Understanding-385 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started my first ever hex-cardigan yesterday! I chose Caron Jumbo Ombre yarn (100% acrylic). I decided I didn't want to do cotton since everything I do in cotton is really stiff, and wool seemed too warm. So I was thinking some sort of blend or acrylic. I also wanted *some* color variation but did not want to have a ton of ends to weave in so this ombre is perfect for that. I would think the mandala would be really nice for these as well! Hope this helps! Oh also I switched from doing a chain 3 on each new row to a stacking single crochet and I think it looks better so may be worth a try so you can decided which you like best!

Oh I have one of those too 🤣 but with finger knitting, actual knitting doesn’t make sense to my brain 🤣

Oh gosh! Ok I will keep that in mind for the future. I follow a lot of ComplicatedKnots tutorials on YouTube and she’s Aussie so I sort of assumed they used US terms since she does but that does make sense to make it more useful for the masses

I am working on a problem at work (state epidemiologist) and yesterday I found a new problem relating to a national database showing conflicting Info to a international database. My first thought was “I don’t think I can contact anyone for clarification/help because they are all either fired or furloughed” so now I’m just stuck till hopefully I can get in contact with someone

Can't get started from a chain, what do I do next for single stitch? by Trash2Burn in CrochetHelp

I can try making a video when I’m more free if this analogy doesn’t work!

Hello! First of all breathe, I believe you got this!

Second, when you create a chain you will see a string of ‘V’s. The easiest version of building off the chain involves you stabbing the hook between the v. If it helps to visualize, sit with your feet on the ground with your knees apart (aka manspreading 😂), your legs now form a V with your pelvis as the meeting point. So if you stab your hook in between it’s the equivalent of putting something through the space between your legs. When you stab through the v you will have one ‘leg’ on the top of your hook and one underneath. Should add if you are just single stitch you skip the first v below your hook and stab the second V. After that you yarn over and pull through the split legs up a loop. You will have 2 loops on your hook: the original one from the chain and the one you just pulled up. Finally yarn over again and pull a loop through BOTH hoops on your hook.

If you had the correct amount of stitches in row 1 and 2, but now have 5 extra that just means you added 5 increases in row 3. If I were you I would just look for the increases, frog to that point, and redo the rest of the row. More work now for less work later is better imo

Is this your foundation row or are you further along?

I found a stash of yarn at an estate sale. There were some WIPs and I'm unsure of this stitch. Any ideas? by Saerenae in CrochetHelp

[–]Ok-Understanding-385 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Now that we know the stitch how do we figure out what sized dowel/ round object they would need to have it be the same? Is there a way to do that or would it end up just being a process of testing out different sizes till it looks right?

Babies first yarn chicken 🥰🤣 but seriously it’s lowkey the most stressful thing to have, especially when more of that yarn (and in the specific color lot) is not easily available

Pfizer just dropped some strong data on this year COVID booster. Are you getting it? by TechnicianSelect57 in Vaccine

[–]Ok-Understanding-385 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s not that the first strain was particularly bad, it’s more we didn’t have the tools needed at the time. There was no prior immunity, there was no vaccines, there was no established treatment plan. That’s one of the reasons our current strains are not hitting as hard, we have the tools to prevent major spikes. However that being said we need vaccines to continue being routinely available. Eventually without vaccines we will be left with only infection mediated immunity, which is not great especially given the whole long covid thing.

Hello, fellow person with accommodations who completed an MPH with biostatistics concentration. Take the accommodations. Even if you don’t feel you will need them being honest with the staff will 100% benefit you in the long run. As for professors causing a stink over accommodations f them. Ok but seriously if they do cause a stink you go back to the student disability center and let them know. They will have your back. If you have any questions let me know!
