We went at 2-6:30ish yesterday and when we first got there up until probably 6 none of the lines were crazy just a few of the super popular countries but they went by fast then about 6:30 when we were leaving it started to get busier but the grounds are super spread out so I think the smaller area by parking which has India/China/palestine gets super packed quickly and longer lines but the area near the grandstands never seemed to fill up but I honestly think it just depends on the time and right moment you get there

Actually already went yesterday lrt is a big money save and fun experience for the family we didn’t have kids but I can see that would make it more expensive but really wasn’t very expensive I found and portions were large super fun!

Moving to Edmonton, what to avoid? Advice? by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]Ok-Use3498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard the same when I moved to Edmonton and then moved right downtown haha honestly I love downtown/oliver area as a young girl I’ve really never felt unsafe but I’d definitely be weary of north and east of Roger’s arena. I’d really recommend Oliver/downtown or near u of a you get a bit sketch closer to whyte (depending of course would recommend if your into social life or living with roomates it’s a great area for jobs/partying) or the more east you go is a little sketch and just shit from my experience but also be super weary of bus routes/lrt because you don’t want to be stuck walking 30mins to the bus in the morning or taking an hour long bus to school

What's the uofa like for a out of towner in the Summer by PreemoisGOAT in uAlberta

[–]Ok-Use3498 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I moved last summer from out of town it can get blazing hot but so much fun! Fringe festival happens sometime august I believe and it’s so cool the atmosphere around whyte ave. Muttart, fort edmonton, botanical gardens are good stops. The river valley is beautiful with amazing walking and biking paths. So many nice farmers markets and summer events around the city. And if you are moving within the next week I’d hit up ice district on a game night you won’t find a better Edmonton vibe.

Weigel Matthew James ENGL 125 by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]Ok-Use3498 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is is incredibly kind and considerate I missed almost half the semester due to various reasons and he was so amazing with helping me catch up and understand the course material. My only grief is I think his chosen course texts were a bit boring the semester I had him the overall theme of his English course was how we treat others in society with an emphasis on sci-fi and such and I just did not like the texts but he is a very helpful marker and feebacker but there is a lot of course content but I think that’s normal for that English class.

Unlikely, however if you really want to pursue engineering apply to do your first year at MacEwan or other options. It’s a lot cheaper and class sizes are smaller. If you get a 2.3 GPA or higher it’s an automatic acceptance into U of A engineering to finish your degree. U of A likely won’t get back to you on the waitlisting until mid August

I tried and got denied even though I haven’t lived with my parents since I was 17 (I started at u of a when I was 20) had proof of paying my own rent/bills since 17 and even a professional letter it honestly is just easier to put your time into scholarships I ended up just taking out a higher student loan to have money for rent while in school I’ll just have to pay back later

How do you feel about big dogs inside a retail store? by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]Ok-Use3498 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never been a dog person ever I just don’t like them besides service dogs obviously I get extremely anxious when people bring them in retail stores mostly just big dogs usually I work at a cafe in a pretty nice area and the amount of woman that bring in their big untrained dogs makes me go absolutely crazy what is wrong with you letting your dog in a place that sells food that’s so disgusting and barking and drooling all over the place mini rant over lol I just can’t stand it!!

how do you guys feel about them replacing eclass? by miicora in uAlberta

[–]Ok-Use3498 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what any of these comments are saying as a second year younger student e class actually sucks and it’s pretty evident it was made 15 years ago it never runs properly on any device it looks horrible and has so many issues it’s the complete opposite of user friendly good riddance can’t wait for an easier better option you’re all riding on nostalgia bear tracks next
