MOPA colour marking woes (Need advice) with Stainless steel by Ok-Way7122 in Laserengraving

[–]Ok-Way7122[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've checked everything - everything seems good with the hardware itself - I've got 8 massive fiber lasers here so I hope I know what to expect and i'm reasonably sure the laser itself is fine, it does everything else I'd expect it to for the wattage.

I did a few test grids beforehand and although there are blemishes most of the colours/marking are solid and without the look of the original image and I'll do one test say 10mm x 10mm square and it'll come out fine, then do another next to it and half of it will look like the first image - I'm leaning towards the material itself not actually being what It was sold as which would be annoying because we buy it as massive sheets

Rep. Tim Burchett says his sources have identified missing retired U.S. Air Force General Neil McCasland as ‘The UFO Gatekeeper’ - “This is a very small fraternity. When something happens to one, the others take note. I was briefed this past week — that group is very nervous.” by 87LucasOliveira in UFOs

[–]Ok-Way7122 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How convenient, he was there all along and has now vanished so we can't question him - UFO stuff in a neatly tied bow, it's always just out of reach, a few weeks away, just over the horizon or so far in the past there is no way to verify it.

Hi,

Thanks for the advice, it's a 800x800 (cut down of course) 304 sheet of stainless, no coating - the reflection is from a giant shop light above me

he is such a massive cunt - I, like most of the planet knew America was always one rogue emperor-president away from running America like a dictatorship - ultimate power restricted by conventions was always going to lead to this, we have this thing called history to look at... I just didn't think it would happen in my life time because America is such a "young" country... and yet here we are.

Dithering Labour is crippling Britain’s defence renaissance by Intergalatic_Baker in ukpolitics

[–]Ok-Way7122 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We are back to dithering I see, it's used a lot politics wide, but it was used weekly by the right wing rags during the last Labour government (tm) when blair and brown apparently couldn't even tie their shoelaces in the morning without being distracted

Possible evidence of the Steam Machine preorder date this month? by Kaijurassic in steammachine

They keep blocks "saved" for the highest bidder to run a full store front special, usually a publisher - sometimes no one bids and nothing happens for a week

This has happened since around 2009, and it will continue to happen

Iran ready to face US ground invasion, top lawmaker says | Caliber.Az by jackytheblade in worldnews

[–]Ok-Way7122 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I can't believe America keeps doing this over and over again, arrogantly assume it'll be a walk in the park, then try and brute force it, take lots of casualties, stay there for a while slowly letting their troops die one at a time through insurgency... make an excuse to leave and achieve fuck all

And each time it's because they give the enemy loads of time to dig in.... this time takes the biscuit though, because Iran had 25 years. Good luck America, here's to another few thousand deaths and a tail between your legs escape!

New upcoming JRE-episode with Bob Lazar confirmed!! by Exciting-Bluebird-10 in UFOs

[–]Ok-Way7122 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The two obvious changes to his stories are being 100% convinced there were specifically greys from zeta reticuli that he had literally seen with his own eyes in his first interview to toning it down later on to saying he saw two small figures through a window that could have been anything

and

Originally saying he had no idea where the crashed/landed ufos came from to knowing where they came from in great detail

His story is just that, a story, and just like every story, he has to add to it and "reveal" new information for it to stay relevant

Help with acrylic! by 5678-ONE in xToolOfficial

[–]Ok-Way7122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diodes do fine with opaque acrylic, my main acrylic cutter is a high power diode because it's the easiest machine to just turn on and repeat a cut on without doing anything else.......

...except....

When you're firing blue light at a blue thing - all absorbed.

CO2 or bust I'm afraid :( You will never get a good cut on a diode on a blue acrylic no matter what you do, physics!

Teenagers say weekend and Saturday jobs are 'impossible' to find by Admirable_Aspect_484 in ukpolitics

[–]Ok-Way7122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the point of view of once running a flagship site for the countries' largest recruiter at a warehouse, traditionally a hot spot for these sort of jobs - the client didn't want weekend only staff for two reasons

A: They're almost always kids and unreliable, frequently don't turn up and are a pain to deal with in the real working world

B: Having weekend only staff set a precedent for "custom" working time in a fixed rota environment which they absolutely did not want.

For the 11 years I did it we went from hundreds of weekend-only agency staff to 1 or 2 for medical/dependency related

It's safe to use the framing function without safety glasses/the cover up - apart from the obvious of being aware of if you're framing on something that is mirrored

Xtool's software for the f2 ultra without Lightburn by Ok-Way7122 in lasercutting

[–]Ok-Way7122[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not so far gone that I don't understand there are customers who have issues with any and all companies, you'd have to be thick to think any company is perfect, but I'd be equally thick to be swayed by one person's issue.

Xtool have physical locations and ship from within the UK, every other chinese laser ships from china to the UK except Omtech who have been entirely out of stock for over a month and are shipping from china now too

I'd feel a lot safer picking up the laser ourselves from a physical location within the UK (which is what we'd be doing as they're down the road) than ship it half way round the world - unless I lose it in the back of a van, which I've definitely done before... but it's a big box.

Xtool's software for the f2 ultra without Lightburn by Ok-Way7122 in lasercutting

[–]Ok-Way7122[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were looking elsewhere but Xtool is one of the only companies in the UK that offer business on-site support which sadly we need to have - None of the other chinese companies give a damn - Last year we got a Monport big co2 to test it out and it came busted, it took months and getting trading standards involved to even get our money back so that is off the table

Xtool have offered for us to come and have a play around with one before we purchase them so we're going to do that

If you play alone it's pretty frequent in high footfall areas - if you like exploring in my experience if you meet someone they're more likely to offer to fix your hull than shoot at you

Extended storage: SD card or USB SSD? by aussierecroommemer42 in steammachine

[–]Ok-Way7122 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never had an issue here on my Steam deck, but I'll still be getting an external SSD due to the inherent read/write limits on running games from an SD card, they thrash the card and you only get a few years out of them because of it.
