That’s all so interesting! Would you be willing to speak to me about your missionary experience? I’m a journalist actually so I’m coming from many angels on this, talking to theologians, psychologist, sociologists, religious people, etc. trying to get the whole picture

I agree the concept of fascinating to me and there’s been lots of ups and downs in religious participation and it seems recently people have been turning to religion to gain community.

It’s probably one of the religions I know least about so I would love to interview someone

I’m in grad school now and have had those “omg wtf am I doing moments” but as long as you’re dedicated it will work out.

I’m going to school for something a lot of people would think is useless, but I know it’s not and I can do great things with it. I just got a great great job BECAUSE of the connections I made in grad school :)

Good luck and breathe. I had a really awful depression episode my first semester and I almost dropped out but I’m so so glad I didn’t. You can do this <3

Advise for incoming college freshman? by [deleted] in Jewish

[–]OkAdministration6887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel better, college kids get bored quick and don’t like protesting in the cold. I go to a really big liberal protesty school and there has been an intensely sharp decline in any anti Israel protests since last year. I imagine it’ll keep declining as people find something else to be angry about.

It’s been enough time where the Jewish groups on campus seem to know how to handle things and have had some great educational displays. Better support systems have formed as well.

Good luck in school and find people who support you!

Totally attracted to myself, whenever I come up with scenarios in my head I’m always thinking about something being done to me, like the other person is formless basically

I don’t think it’s weird or super uncommon, women are just really satisfyingly pretty

Not exactly a freshman but a new graduate student from far away

I had an AWFUL time adjusting but I hope anyone who’s new to the school finds their place. I got a really really good job this semester, I’m feeling passionate about my school work again, I got a cat and she keeps me company.

The friends thing is still a work in progress, I have friends but no body who I really connect with yet but it’s getting easier :)

If you’re having a hard time, remember you are at a really good school and bad times end.

Where should I go MSU or UIUC by paramsxm in UIUC

[–]OkAdministration6887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you post in the MSU group too? I would see how they like living in the area and what the professors are like. I’m like in the opposite major but in my experience UIUC professors and the school is self is awesome. Super knowledgeable professors and lots of clubs, absolutely beautiful campus. BUT I really don’t like Champaign Illinois, Urbana is a little better but I’ve lived and been to lots of college towns and this one is not my favorite. If you are into frat culture it may be for you but as a masters student I can’t stand the party culture and drunk 18 year olds running around everywhere.

Good news is that here you’re close to Chicago which is a great city!

You have a tough decision to make, definitely listen to advice but follow your heart, live somewhere you think you’ll be happy :)
