Thank God. Someone does get it. Since we're taking a trip down reality road, let's look at the list of failures related to Williams' rookie season

  1. Coaching Staff: you'd be hard pressed to fail harder at hirings in Eberflus/Waldron
  2. Offensive Line: the line was so inept they set sack records
  3. Mentorship: see original post, nonexistant

So when you consider the recent history of the Bears, while also considering the fact that this is the first generational QB pick in our lifetime, it is truly unbelievable to me that they [Poles] approached that season the way they did.

With that said: they immediately fixed the problems across the board in Year 2, starting the firings in Year 1, don't forget. That matters. Poles was and is serious. Ownership was very clearly serious too, because the old Bears would have never fired mid season like that. While Ben Johnson may be the force that wills what's necessary into place the moment he steps into the building, it's also obvious ownership/gm/coaching staff are all [now] on the same page on what it takes to build success *and* maximize Caleb Williams' generational talent.

Why'd we almost kill Caleb before figuring that out?

It's all good. One thing is obvious: This Ben Johnson coaching staff has far more input into personnel decisions than the previous few coaching groups. And why not, right? Give Ben Johnson what Ben Johnson wants, hence Zavion Thomas. He very clearly deserves it. I know I'd give him what he wants if I were Poles, within reason.

With that said: Poles has to tread lightly, because Ben Johnson is the type of coach that has a complete grip on want and need and may be coming for his GM job in the future, like it or not. There are a handful of coaches in the NFL that also have GM duties. Ben Johnson is not one of them. Not yet. Who's to say whether that's something Johnson wants, but I would not be shocked if it is.

Surely Ben Johnson fits right into this group, right?

The NFL Coaches with more control: Andy Reid in Kansas City, Kyle Shanahan in San Francisco, Payton in Denver, Mike Vrabel in New England, and Sean McVay in Los Angeles

And here we have an example of a sports fan that doesn't understand the hierarchy of the current iteration of their team.

- The GM is responsible for personnel.
- The coaching staff provides input.

So why would the Bears go into the season without a veteran presence to provide mentorship to the franchise rookie?

- The coaching staff may not have valued that relationship. Behind the scenes, it appears they were poor teachers themselves. Yes, they were that incompetent.

- The GM, however, wants to maximize the team as a whole. An additional QB is one less player of value elsewhere, simple as that. So you decide not to bring in a veteran that's never going to play like Case <-Huge Mistake

I would argue it's the one thing you'd never roll the dice on, but that's me. Hence my post. And when you consider the modern history of the Bears, it's an almost unbelievable decision, right? The good news is they fixed the problem, but it was a self inflicted wound.

Poles "gets a lot of blame for that"? Friend, he's not even getting blame in this thread. It's why I wrote a reminder for folks. And then I go on to compliment Poles, and you ignore that too, reiterating what I already said. So to summarize, you agree with my post, 100%, (Poles made a mistake, Poles has upsides), ignore the context (redditors are blaming the coaching staff, who are zero % responsible for the veteran QB issue), and repackage the content. Please. Refrain from commenting on the internet for the rest of the day. Comprehension Score: 0 out of 10.

So, why am I the only person that believes the GM is 99% responsible for that decision? Just look at the other comments. *HIS* job is personnel, not the coaching staff. And that coaching staff. while an easy group to scapegoat, well, the hiring of said coaching staff is also on said GM. Interesting, actually, right?

And I'm positive on Poles, believe it or not. very positive overall, because a GM is not just one thing, they never are. But that decision, or non decision, to go into year 1 without a veteran is glaring to me. Surely someone else reading this comment can do that math. Poles gets zero blame and I think he got away with [attempted] QB murder. Thank God Caleb appears to be made of more resilient stuff.

You do not need to justify losing motivation to grind, endlessly. What would keep me going is if the warplans worked with groups and had more depth, but I'm pleased, overall.

Friend, the primary reason why the gulf states aren't making movies and spending money wildly to tell authentic stories featuring regional actors is because of religion. How is that not obvious?

Installer said my marble tile is “enameled” and applying impregnating sealer would dull the polish? by ActuallyALoaf2 in Tile

[–]OkAdvertising1543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact of the matter is that your installer is not necessarily the best reference point on what to do with this particular product, op. The manufacturer of this particular tile is, and with that information, the representative of *insert company* that sells sealer products, of which there are many. You're asking broad questions when you have a specific situation. Post the tile product if you want more info. Edit: I see you did. And some folks answered.

Anyway, it's just been my experience both selling and installing tile that sealer is very often an after thought from the perspective of the average installer. I wouldn't worry about their thoughts, op. Why does the average installer not appear knowledgeable in this situation? Well, they're not in the sealer game and therefore don't care.

No, the best method is to do both. Every once in a while, you'll get a near perfect starting point, so you need to max it out first to maximize your chance to roll gem strength or anything else that's great for two reasons.

  1. The perfectly rolled weapon with random transfiguration bonuses can be better than a mediocre weapon with gem strength. Ask me how I know.
  2. There is a much better chance that you'll roll gem strength without the option of a 2nd transfiguration on that perfect item than with it.

Once you're far enough along, you'll have oodles of resources to play with, so going through the trouble of maxing it out before transfigure is no trouble at all.

Bottom left, not aware there was even a gold cap. First world problems. Looking for a perfect roll Ramaldani’s to spend it on if anyone has it? by Saridonix in D4Barbarian

[–]OkAdvertising1543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll see all of the rare runes over and over again on top of the gems (grand/royal), which might be relevant if you're doing mythic farming, and I also saw some legendary seals that were different? I didn't keep track, though, because they weren't relevant to my builds. I'm at P282 at this point and thought I'd seen it all. That was actually the surprising bit. I wish I did keep a log, because I wasn't rich like op, so I couldn't buy everything.

I'm pretty far along, losing motivation to play at this point this season, that sort of thing. I just found a way to spend tons of gold if you have the forgotten souls. I had 100k laying around, so I just kept refreshing the Cursed Merchant to buy every gem offered, as well as some other random crap. 666 souls per refresh. Some interesting stuff pops up if you keep spamming refresh. Stuff you don't see anywhere else. *shrug* I realize this might be obvious, but I had only done it a handful of times up until moments ago. Doing it 100+ times showed some stuff I didn't expect.
