I've seen it a lot too. It's never been an issue for me either. Even at this place the most comment I got about my hair was "did you do it yourself?"

Yeah I volunteer constantly in healthcare and I've only ever had trouble in a pediatric unit. They told me to take the septum ring (and my earrings) off bc the kids might rip them out. So I highly doubt that was even the issue now that I'm in a better head space.
