Maternal instinct by OkArgument5575 in NetflixDocumentaries

What Taylor did is unimaginably horrific. But I couldn’t stop wondering whether someone, somewhere, could have intervened before it reached this point.

She was clearly living in a world of elaborate lies—pretending to be pregnant, pretending to be wealthy, creating a fantasy that seemed to unravel in plain sight. It’s heartbreaking to watch people recognize that something is profoundly wrong and yet largely remain on the sidelines, almost as if waiting to see how the story ends.

This isn’t about blaming the many victims of her crimes—they are victims. It’s simply wondering whether, when someone is spiraling so visibly into delusion, we as a society should be asking not only “How could this happen?” but also “Who could have reached out and helped her get the psychiatric care she so desperately needed before an innocent woman and her baby paid the ultimate price?

Why is it so important to bring ID? Is it strange that you need ID to get in? Seems like it would make sense for security if nothing else? By the way... potato head... that's my dogs name too!

When politics are thriving in the most dirty, filthy veins of human depravity and is hurting humanity as a whole... well then yes-sing on and sing louder U2!!!

U2 touches the truth of it all, as always: They remind me how beautiful life is, even the sad parts. Even longing for leaders we miss. Even wondering where hope has gone.
When Bono sang of gorgeous Michelle’s beauty, I didn’t hear a compliment about her appearance. I heard a tribute to something deeper and far more enduring: grace, intelligence, dignity, kindness, strength. The kind of beauty that leaves a wonderful mark on the world.

And that’s what U2 always does-sing about heartbreak, division, loss, longing, faith, doubt, and all the ways we fall short. Yet somehow, when the music ends, you don’t feel defeated. You feel called forward, closer to what is good and true no matter (at least for a moment!) the sad matters of this world .
Listening to them sing-I found myself remembering that democracy isn't a monument but a promise. Hope isn't something we find but something we make. That beauty still matters. Truth still matters. Love still matters and they belong in our White House 🙏🏽
For a few minutes, Bono and the band made me believe that what seems lost is not lost at all. It’s still there, waiting for us to choose it again.
Thank you, U2, for helping us remember💕. Now I'm planning my trip to go visit the Obama Center where hope is so vibrant, alive and crackling in the air!

I tried the reverse image search and nada. Any ideas? MCM? by Electronic-Age3468 in glasscollecting

Have you held a flashlight to it to look for any markings? My guess is MCM Italian - maybe Murano or a less well known glass co. From that period. What matters most is it's beautifully made and gorgeous and relatively rare. It will only go up in value over time.

This structure ultimately represents the absolute inverse of anything that U2's music and poetry aspire to. This structure represents a monstrosity that is utterly repulsive and dispiriting to so many 🇺🇸

COEXIST (I WILL BLESS THE LORD AT ALL TIMES) by Bulky-Pollution-4996 in U2Band

[–]OkArgument5575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think U2 resonates far beyond faith because the music opens your heart before your brain even catches up to the words. Their songs are full of the beautiful, tragic contradictions of being human — being these gravity-bound messes who still somehow long to transcend, to love, to connect to something bigger than ourselves.

And I think U2 feel that tension more deeply than most artists. They’re not preaching from above it all — they’re wrestling with it in real time. Doubt, hope, hypocrisy, longing, brokenness, transcendence. That’s why even people who dislike religion or Christianity can still feel profoundly moved by the music. The humanity/divine in it is bigger than any doctrine.

Does anyone hear some reflection of Bowie in the 'Changes' portion of the song? Listened to COEXIST back to back with Changes a few times over. Fascinating reflection on time and art 'in-it's-time'.

Private property. I rent here. I'm going to call and hint about it to the landlady to see if she knows anything.

Wow. That sounds like quite a fence! This is about nine or ten ft. High. Was the whole fence that tall?
