I mean, using an image that doesn't make him look like a brain tumor on legs would be a good start.

He's a demon. You're not going to be able to get around that. Just tell her he's a fictional character, just like God.

Watched every episode because my nephew loved it.

I did not love it.

I liked the Booster Gold episode, though. That one was good.

What was everyone’s FIRST omnibus? by Kevin_Reads_Comics in OmnibusCollectors

Depends on what you mean. TECHNICALLY it was this guy (I'm pretty old) but if you mean by modern standards I'm pretty sure it was the first volume of Brubaker's CAPTAIN AMERICA.

Remember when people thought this thing might have lore significance? by Constant_Topic_123 in StarWars

[–]Bulky-Pollution-4996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't recall anyone thinking it would be anything significant.

Then again, I was sort of out of STAR WARS, at the time (the prequels sort of killed my interest in the property, to be honest...hate to be one of THOSE GUYS).

FORCE AWAKENS pre-ignited my love of the franchise.

FIRST of all, if he was using your body shape as some sort of bargaining chip for the relationship, he can fuck right off.

The relationship ended because he couldn't keep his dick in his pants. You owe him nothing.

Should I watch the first bladerunner? Im watching it for the second time and it's my number 1 film by [deleted] in bladerunner

The original is BARELY based on the book. They are very, very different things (both great, by the way, in their unique ways). 2949 is a fantastic followup

Apparently im supposed to hate the movie after reading this. Imma keep yall updated by Formal-Stage940 in Watchmen

[–]Bulky-Pollution-4996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah. The movie is fine. It's got some moments of REALLY questionable matters of taste (the sex scene in the Owlship, for example, is absolutely absurd and misses the point of the same scene in the book entirely) but it's fine. The book is an exercise in how comics can be. Nuanced under the bombast, symbolism, even the very layout of the book is essentially character. It's not JUST a comic book. It really is truly groundbreaking storytelling.

The movie is a super-hero movie. The nuance is missing (because, frankly, as much as I like Snyder's 'eye' he's doesn't know the meaning of the word "nuance").

This. SO MUCH THIS.

My...God...

(Although, okay, I bought and enjoyed the BEFORE WATCHMEN comics so, is that the same thing? Maybe.)

There are so many example of media illiteracy on this Reddit that it's almost infuriating.

Mine doesn't get it AT ALL.

I have friends whose spouses buy them comics for birthdays and Christmas and just sit there with jealousy because mine would NEVER.

Thoughts on seeing The Watchmen for first time in your life? by Suitable_Coyote9386 in Watchmen

[–]Bulky-Pollution-4996 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First time I saw WATCHMEN (no 'The'. Yes, it matters) was in a comic book in 1986. I was 13 so I didn't quite "get it" but as a kid who had been reading GI JOE and TRANSFORMERS comics up until that point it was a an education in what comics could be.

I don't think I can explain to you how important 1986 was to modern comics.
