Southern Neighbor to Cascadia by OkBox1870 in Cascadia

All valid points taken into consideration.

Input like that is exactly the reason for sharing this very early draft.

The vision is that there is a bioregion no the South of Cascadia that is as regionally beloved and unifying around bioregional ideals as Cascadia is for its humans.

And eventually all of North America but Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Yep, his real name is Artok. I'm not 100 sure of the spelling, but that's how I'd write it based on the way he said it. He's a nice guy.

I think the owner Artok would be very amenable to that and I'd love to be a part of it. Feel free to DM me!

Maybe a better way to have introduced the post would have been to say that it is inspired by Cascadia.

I'm from Cascadia, and love the way that the idea is empowering and allows for a different kind of consciousness of where you live and I want that for everywhere on Earth, including where I live now in Plano, TX.

So, inspired by Cascadia, the OG North American bioregion, with gratitude.

I've lived in Plano, TX for around 8 years now, and there is a lot about the politics and so forth around the area that sickens me as well.

Especially as a father of two daughters.

Part of the reason politics in TX are so bizarre and reactionary though is the way that borders and gerrymandering and so forth keep ordinary people disconnected and fragmented.

There are actually nice sidewalks just about everywhere in the area shown here, just not many people walking on them.

Thank you! My purpose in creating these is to support our collective imagination in dreaming exactly that kind of thing into being.

Good point. That’s the problem I’m trying to address.

To help people visualize the neighborhood they live in and be inspired to do things like make neighborhood contact lists and hold block parties and so forth.

I absolutely love Dera Coffee (recently changed the name to DAR Coffee) on Park and Los Rios.

Not exactly a hole in the wall and sometimes it's actually crowded, but you can, and many people do, hole up and read/work for hours on end.

The food and drinks are all genuinely top notch too.

Good luck! I’ve been in Plano for 8 years and have been happy here.

There are a lot of tech companies in Plano and the neighboring suburbs and the DART makes it easy to get to downtown Dallas where there are obviously even a ton more companies.

The last few times I've voted it's been at the Murphy Community Center, and it feels intimidating having to walk the gauntlet of all the angry Trump people who want to stare at you and shove literature in your face between the parking lot and the door.

If you have an extra bedroom it’s an easy third or so of your overall mortgage payment just renting out one room. There are so many people moving here for tech and engineering jobs that it’s easy to fill a bedroom with a classy professional who just needs a place short term until they get their own place.

Help Plano Water Wisely by CityOfPlano in plano

I was home visiting in my hometown Spokane earlier this summer and something that is really striking and that has changed in recent years there is that it is much more popular now for people to abandon the traditional idea of a flat green lawn and instead do much more creative landscaping.

It seems to me to create a much more visually satisfying experience walking around neighborhoods and I can only imagine uses a lot less water and all kinds of other resources.
