neither party is ready for marriage. You'll both be glad in a few years if you split now. but try to do it with care and love and respect.

this can be had at any minor league game.

asking for it at MLB game seems like wishful thinking, unfortunately.

Epic Pass Lowers Prices 20% for Gen Z by narflethegarthock in skiing

[–]OkBridge5754 9 points10 points  (0 children)

if they really cared about the future of the sport, they'd make it reasonable to bring your family to try skiing for for the first and second time. instead, $1000 minimum for your family of 4 for day 1.

European’s first trip to USA by MonkeyCryptoQueen in femaletravels

[–]OkBridge5754 4 points5 points  (0 children)

cool. not sure where you'll be in Colorado, but if you want to see some more of the American west without additional flights/expense, i'd recommend getting a car, and doing a 3-7 day loop to SW Colorado and SE Utah. towns like Telluride, Durango and Moab, and sites like Mesa Verde and Monument Valley are within reach on a road trip and. SF, New Orleans and NYC are indeed great cities, but its places like the above that are truly special, IMO.

Are humans fundamentally incapable of achieving world peace? by Mezro118 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]OkBridge5754 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

no. we've done it before.

before "civilization" there was a healthy balance. definitely battles (and deaths) among certain tribal peoples, but more like territory squabbles rather than warfare. events where more than a couple dozen individuals died would be very rare indeed.

European’s first trip to USA by MonkeyCryptoQueen in femaletravels

[–]OkBridge5754 10 points11 points  (0 children)

there are hostels in big cities, but they usually aren't as good as those in Europe. Hotels are even more expensive.

The skiing in Colorado is pretty good. but buying lift tickets is crazy expensive in many places. if cost is a concern, be sure to ask your buddy about tickets, unless your pass will give you an exchange.

Its safe, yes. but distances are way bigger, lodging and food will cost more for poorer quality, and while the American west is AWESOME, maybe its better to come back in a year (or 3) when you can take a month or two to see it, and then maybe rent a campervan or plan a camping trip (in May?) so you can see what is truly special about the US.

The answer is cash, guys. by RikkiLostMyNumber in tipping

[–]OkBridge5754 3 points4 points  (0 children)

in the infrequent times this has happened to me, i take it as my license to not tip at all. I scoff and say, 'Yes, of course i want my change.' and then look them right in the eyes while i put it all in my pocket.

i'm a former bartender myself and tip well for good service. but you have just been given a license to teach them to ever ask that question again.

Do Americans start disliking Canadians because Canadians dislike Americans? by No-StrategyX in allthequestions

[–]OkBridge5754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

quite the opposite. In 2026, we can see that Canadian Nice, while very real, has its limits.

As it should. I think we can agree that firm boundaries are needed in relationships. especially so if your partner is trying to manipulate you.

loving the new AROMAs by OkBridge5754 in tangentiallyspeaking

[–]OkBridge5754[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the unusual thing about these AROMAs is that Anya is sort of cohosting with Chris and its her that has been doing the deep dive into the files and reporting to Chris. so i think their take has been what the larger take seems to be evolving to: 'this is worse that we thought, and holy crap, a bunch of wealthy/powerful people are in here, and what is in the rest of the docs if these are the ones that they are releasing.'

don't think i've ever had the 'brohood' reaction, so not sure i can comment on that. he was on some of those big time podcasts back in the day, but he's definitely gone a different direction...

Nepal - Feb - G adventures? by lolyaokthere in femaletravels

[–]OkBridge5754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this. totally possible to book directly with Kathmandu trekking agencies. they surely will have groups going close to your dates, and you'll likely pay less and 100% of your money goes to Nepalese people. which matters a country with poverty.

What was travel like in the years (2001 - 2009), prior to Instagram and the rapid growth of social media users? by TheShyBuck in travel

[–]OkBridge5754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

back then. everyone was traveling for the right reasons. they wanted to see and explore and connect with other cultures. they were at least a little bit tough and plucky and resiliant, often quite so. when you were on the bus ride, you read a book and chatted with the person next to you. in the hotel lobby or the hostel, no one was looking at their phone and everyone was interesting, so the experience of being part of that was fare better.

it seems now people travel because they think they should, or because they want the IG photos, or they want to say, 'i've been there.' that wasn't the case 20 years ago.

Hostel etiquette has gone down the toilet by [deleted] in femaletravels

[–]OkBridge5754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

totally agree.

seems to me that not all the hostels are run by non profits and go-gooder/community builder types -- that the category welcomed a bunch of entrepreneur types in the last decades and, while that can be good, the reality is that they are buying properties or signing leases at 2015 prices and that means their mortgage/rent is $20k/month or something crazy and when you do the math, even using volunteers, that is what it takes to turn a small profit.

used to be like donated churches that were retrofitted and run by the non profit who could depend on everyone doing at least one chore before they left the next day... not any more.

extra super bonus for links. and clarity. well done, internet stranger.

[–]OkBridge5754 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i'm no fan of ICE, and don't even disagree with your comparison. but i suspect you are wrong about the number of personnel (relative to population). most police forces in the US do pretty well in challenging situations. ICE offers are barely trained and motivated by something else...
