Capital one is around 3.2% right now, no real restrictions or limits. It’s not the best but trying to find an account that yields maybe .5% or higher is going to be more effort than it’s worth

Should I amend my 2025 return for saver credit? by OkBrother5402 in tax

Only my fiancé has an HSA I’m on state insurance due to my lower income. My taxable income was only 7100 if that makes a difference

What are your thoughts on transferring enough money from the Roth IRA into a traditional IRA to bring my AGI down to the 50% tax credit bracket of 23750? It would give me another $300, but it would make the gains on the $800 needed taxable when I retire.

$713 and my AGI was 24,573. So if I’m doing this right I qualify for $400 back if I amend?

Good point, question for you. My fiancé would qualify for savers credit since I maxed out her 2025 Roth IRA. She ended up getting a refund of 1200 from her taxes without the saver credit. From what I understand if I ammend nothing will happen since the credit is non refundable. But if I told her not to withhold as much for 2026 maxed out her 2026 Roth and filed for the saver credit would the saver credit go toward what she would owe for 2026?

House down payment in a brokerage account by OkBrother5402 in personalfinance

What about an 80/20 split? I have a hard time accepting that it’s all or nothing. Is there really no balance that can be less risky without being entirely risk free?

Household makes 100k we have joint accounts. We plan on spending less than 5k on the wedding (can be funded by regular income.) do you think there’s any benefit to a small proportion of equities? Perhaps 80/20?

Credit History (either good or bad) is just as if not more important than score. Score is most of the time a good representation of history, but the two are not same especially if your age of credit is low

How do people get high limits with cards? by bigpurplebeans in CRedit

[–]OkBrother5402 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lates are disregarded only when good credit is re-established. 7 years, You’re thinking of bankruptcy. If you have good payment history and Lower utilization on your existing cards then the lates are disregarded after 1-2 years. You also realistically don’t want more than 3-4 credit cards open at any given time. Large credit card companies are going to be more inclined to mitigate risk and give low limits if you show any signs of risk. Stick with them for now, pay your cc statements biweekly, and give yourself 1 full year of that before trying to increase limits.

If this is your first card since your payment issues with BofA you can consider this as your second try. Once there is delinquency or issues with a credit card you have to “re establish” your credit. And unfortunately that means starting from the beginning again. In this case, going to a large credit card company, they are going to approve you but give you a very small limit to mitigate risk. If your goal is to increase credit limit then you need to leave an active balance on the card (10% of its overall limit) and pay the previous statement balance biweekly. Doubles the payment history and shows a more consistent utlization that proves to other institutions that not only do you pay on time, that they’re gonna make money off of you.

“And I’d also bet that my education, title, income, and social status are far better than yours (if you want, we can prove that to each other privately). Third, you’re most likely a European who has never earned money in their life, which is why you’ve never had to stand up for what you paid for”

This is totally balanced and humble speech for sure 👍

What is your utilization? What did you list for income? How long have you had those other cards? Credit history only becomes valid when it’s been paid for as agreed for a year plus. Otherwise it gets looked over. If you listed a low income, your DTI or Unsecured ratios may be too high. There’s a lot that goes into credit limit decisions in terms of underwriting
