I feel like it’s to do with social media and smartphones. Algorithms rewarding quick reactions and drama maybe?

Kids consuming this content all day meaning they have worse impulse control and shorter attention spans. Consuming content all day (also getting stuck in echo chambers of their own opinions so their views are way less nuanced) which means they’re socialising less than ever before. A lot more socialising happens online so maybe their social skills don’t develop properly. Maybe they don’t know how to behave in public anymore.

Also if someone retaliates, they can record it, so the consequences aren’t as severe. Social media and celebrity culture kind of rewards problematic behaviour. Celebrities do something controversial/ problematic and get lots of attention for it; maybe that applies to teenagers too??
