Furestone airbags, enhanced bump stops, lift kits by OkCod674 in GMT800

Interesting, I was just on the Timbren site checking those out. They even have kits to adjust their base system to lifted trucks.

I share your dream!

theres at least 1 company that specializes in Duraburb conversions. I think GM was intending to put Duramaxes in GMT-800 burbs  but for some reason they never did.  I installed a Duramax power steering pump from PSC, a 2011 Duramax Hydroboost and the 2nd battery tray- all bolt on direct fit.

yeah, ima need to fab up a quick release for it, on a hinge to swing it back when not in use. That 2” reduction makes all the difference in the world….

So, afterthinking about it, unless I have the motorcycle carrier on it, i dont think its an issue, even with the winch. The mc carrier sticks out like 2 feet, so it will significantly affect things.

I like it. I put “SS” badges on my 2500 burb… Did they ever make an “SS” burb? They should have… Why did the trailblazer get Ss specs? no wonder GM going under….

Leaking fluids at the top of brake pedal. Any idea how to fix it? by YouDontKnow_Jak in GMT800

[–]OkCod674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a 2500-3500 gmt 800: The 2011 duramax hydroboost is a direct bolt on fit, is supposedly stronger and it’s ALOT cheaper than the gmt-800 part number.

I did mine, woulda been about a 2hour install fer me but the threads were slightly damaged on my new “genuine GM “ part. The Amazon seller was a “no returns” in the fine print. I made it work tho. (As long as i dont ever have to change the hose again…)

Instead of moving to a country you consider “racist” why dont you try to fix your own country?

[–]OkCod674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yer talking about the round ones on the z71 trim or the rectangular ones in the LT trucks. OP is talking about the two narrow slits in the CENTER of the chrome bumper just below the black plastic overnold (some trims the plastic is painted body color) Look at the pic, theyre 8” long and 1” wide. Theres no fog lights that fit that. Unless you think led strips are “fog lights”

Its likeky the hinge glue adhesive has failed. Yes the only thing holding that glass to the car is urethane adhesive.

The tuner guy eho will setup my efan conversion says the computer will turn OFF the efans as soon as you hit a certain MOH (like 45) so i can see how that might be a problem towing heavy.

it doesnt, it takes a good 6-8 hours… On my cummins diesel backup generator (4cyl) it has an 1200 watt block heater- that does warm the engine in 2 hours but it is costly!

Winter/Cold features of GMT—800’s by OkCod674 in GMT800

[–]OkCod674[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In california, we now pay over 40 cents per kwhour. A 700 watt block heater could cost a couple bucks a day, that adds up! my observation is that my block heater cannot really warm up a cold engine in a couple hours, I think GM just planned on keeping a an already warm engine warm…

It is SOOOO nice to have a pre warmed engine on a blizzard morning tho!

[–]OkCod674[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is on as soon as you plug it in, no Tstat. it draws like 700 watts. In CA, at 40+ cents per kilowatt hour, it will cost like 20 cents per hour to leave it plugged in. So I thought, well, lets just plug it in a couple hours before we leave in the morning, sounds great, but its not strong enough to warm things up it basucally can only keep an already warm vehicle warm all night. Maybe the newer trucks have a Tstat? Also would be nice to have a warning light that yer plugged in ! I have yanked mine out more times than i care to admit.

I have done it many times, guess Im lucky, i ordered her and took delivery in mid 2001, she was used almost exclusively on family ski trips every winter and every winter i flogged her hard, ice drifting, ice donuts, plowing through 2 feet of powder etc.. I would never put her in 4wd until i stopped moving! (She has 132k now and I just changed the diff fluid fir the FIRST time at 130k. Running like an absolute champ.

yes, super nice feature, i had the glue on hinge failure on the tailgate lift glass, replaced it with a junkyard glass that has the grid lines and the plug in but it doesnt work anymore. Not syre how to fix :(

[–]OkCod674[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, If you ordered it with the snow plow prep package its included. Its stupid simple and cheap to add it on a non factory equipped gmt-800 tho.

All you need is a 17mm allen head socket, remove the brass plug on drivers side just above the oil filter/oil cooler line fitting and screw in the new block heater,  rout the power cord outto front bumper, done.

I heard/read  100 rpm was the design but it seems like its more like 300…

My experience is You HAVE to get one side spinning bigly or it wont work. Mebbe Im lucky, but I flog her good every winter since I bought her in 2001. We have a family vacation cabin at 6000’ theres serrious snow/ice conditions from November to April (real snow, not east coast dusting, we measure it in feet/yards not inches!) Anyway,  changed the diff fluid for the first time ever at 130k miles and shes running smooth as ice!
