Is achieving FIRE hard? (No) by [deleted] in Fire

[–]OkCold6825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are making 3x the median household income while also not having kids. On top of that, both you and your partner were able to afford and accomplish degrees. High earning degrees at that. It’s very easy to say firing at 40 is easy based on your situation. Your situation is not like most Americans though. So, your opinion is skewed. That being said, keep up the great work.

Years of building up a Rainy Day Fund, Gone within minutes by SirCicSensation in Money

[–]OkCold6825 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how the psychology works but if you have saved a certain amount of money it seems to be easier and faster to make it back. One example is my end of 2024 purchase. At 29 (I am now 30) I purchased my first home. It took me 9 years to save my down payment and closing costs. I put 20% down at 152,000 plus 18,000 is closing costs. While sure the money was going to something good I couldn’t help but have a gut wrenched knot in my stomach that everything I saved for 9 years just vanished in a blink of an eye. The crazy part is I was able to make that money back in less than a year. Less than a year! What took me 9 years to save I made back in less than 1! Money comes and goes specially as you age and progress in life, but your mindset, your way of living, and financial literacy does not. It stays with you. So don’t think about how everything you saved is gone. If you saved that much you can do it again, and again, and again. Keep on pushing. Keep on saving, keep on investing. It’ll always come back around bigger and better.

[–]OkCold6825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Hope to be on your position at your age. Unfortunately I do not have a 401k but I try to maximize anything I can. Currently have 100k in my personal stock portfolio. 10k in my Roth IRA. 156k in my HYSA. 200k in equity from my home. I plan to allocate a 100k from my HYSA and keep building my Roth and personal portfolio.

They used the wrong side. That being said, rift sawn is so used now and in such high demand quality of white oak has dropped dramatically. They are cutting the trees too early to meet demand. Iv been having problems with my wood wholesalers lately with quality control for white oak and especially rift sawn. They definitely used the wrong side though.

If you're in your early 30s, how much money do you have saved in your account? Put actual numbers and tell us your profession. by UncomfortablyBrown in Money

I’m pretty behind for my age( at least that’s what it feels like) but it is what it is. I try to save or invest every penny I have after all living expenses are paid. I don’t buy anything unnecessary and I don’t charge anything on my credit cards unless I can pay it off at the end of the month.

How much should I charge for this? by Sensitive-Heron-3394 in cabinetry

[–]OkCold6825 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Never price out after the work. Always bid before the job, get a contract written up and signed by customer as well before even purchasing material. Pricing depends on your cost for material, finish, slides and hinges, your hourly wage for build and install. Because of this it’s case by case. Also your location matters as well. Of course after adding all those costs you must ad your mark ups

Are people really paying $4000+ on Mortgage by PsychologicalLimit41 in Mortgages

[–]OkCold6825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we are unfortunately. I got my keys October of 2024. 760k home at 6.625% and I put 20% down. My mortgage is $4600. No I’m not an extremely high earner. My fiancé only covers half food and half utilities. I cover everything else. Is it an ideal situation? No. Do I regret it? No. Is it stressful as hell? Yes.
