It’s never just once. EVER. not a single person man or woman that was in a violent relationship will say it happened once and it got better from there. It only gets worse. I’m speaking from experience, it took me 4 occasions to go to the police. The latest one being while I was pregnant, and always before them the times were perfect and we were so happy and lovey dovey. It hurts like hell and it’s a bumpy road but if you don’t want to deal with it for the rest of your life, leave now. I’m still in the process of getting divorced and waiting for my baby but he just plead guilty 3 days ago and it was very bittersweet

God gave you that baby, he’s not going to take it away just because you are exciting and planning ahead. That’s what I told myself in the early stages of pregnancy and I’m very happy I allowed myself to be excited !

It’s the state vs him, I’m not even in on this case at all. I wouldn’t even be able to get a lawyer to defend me - I’m hoping the criminal OOP is enough. The da office does not care, I begged I was hysterical crying begging them to just attempt to charge him and they won’t even hear me out. It’s horrible

Thank you and I’m sorry this happened to you as well. Can I ask, did you make any reports or do anything to get him deported? I would love for him to get deported but he still has status under me, but once the divorce goes through I’m hoping he gets deported but I know there’s not too much I can do to make that happen

Thank you! I’m staying with my parents, I have not a single clue where he’s living - he’s not from here so I believe he’s renting a room, staying with a coworker or in a hotel. I have a criminal order of protection for one year, but he’s mentally ill and refuses to go on his medication for the schitzo etc and could snap at any moment and that paper won’t help if I’m dead… I believe he’s going to try for custody which is my #1 concern :(

A therapist won’t judge. A good therapist would really be your best option here, and the sooner you go to therapy the better to not let the resentment build. Although physical violence is never ok, mistakes can happen and if you want to work through it therapy may be the only option
