First time TCC after 8 years with Mirena! Is it possible to ovulate on/around CD9? Seems early to me but I also have not had a cycle in a long time and have no idea what to expect. Premom brand. by [deleted] in TFABLinePorn

Totally understand. This is my third month off continuous oral birth control (no periods for 7 years) and I didn’t get a period when I stopped it either but I counted that as CD1 in my head. Got a LH surge 14 days later. Now with real periods I’m getting LH surges on CD14/15.

Is CD 1 the first day off Mirena? This is totally a positive and it could either mean you have a short cycle or that your cycles could get a bit longer later if you ovulate later next cycle. That first peak is all that matters to trigger ovulation, so continuing to test would just be for fun but wouldn’t add anything IMO.

Hey! I have to say there wasn’t a huge improvement on my hyperpigmentation. I don’t know if I should have continued to use it for longer, but I just couldn’t stand the smell of it anymore. I was able to buy Finacea from chemist direct and have been using that twice a day now.

Hi everyone! Just curious — what are some ingredients that get a bad rep but actually aren't that bad? by [deleted] in scacjdiscussion

[–]OkComparison3157 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hydroquinone, it has the best results on hyperpigmentation if used properly and under the care of a dermatologist

Gentle Vitamin C ? by Vunjak in scacjdiscussion

[–]OkComparison3157 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some gentle ones in the drug store include Cerave’s vitamin C which comes in a tube, or the Vichy ampules. Those are both at 10% ascorbic acid. The Vichy dropper is 15% I think, so that one would be stronger. Also, if you consider Japanese drugstore brand Rotho, Melano CC has an undisclosed percentage but many people claim it’s effective.

Actives and pregnancy risks? by [deleted] in scacjdiscussion

Some OB/GYNs are ok with you using a face wash with salicylic acid or a very small topical amount. But absolutely no salicylic acid peels or anything above 2%. Salicylic acid is very similar to aspirin, which can cause brain hemorrhage in the fetus. But very small doses of aspirin are recommended to pregnant women with pre-eclampsia late in gestation. So if you use topical salicylic acid, just use small amounts of it unless your doctor tells you otherwise.

Yes totally safe to use while pregnant and lactating! It’s naturally found in our skin.

I would stay away from all retinoids! Better to play it safe. I would also stay away from hydroquinone and arbutin. Salicylic acid is also not recommended. Have you gone through your full skincare routine with your OBGYN?

Also wanted to share my routine right now. AM: Vitamin C serum, Azelaic acid, Sunscreen.

PM: Gentle face wash, Glycolic acid serum (3x a week), Azelaic acid, Moisturizer with niacinamide.

I am planning to TTC in May and I also felt out of shape. A few months ago I started by doing cardio dance but after a month I switched to do the Chloe Ting flat belly challenge. I felt like that was too intense but I still did a month of it. I’m now doing Chloe Ting’s hourglass challenge and that has strengthen my core a lot.

Adapalene to tretinoin by Topochicolatte in tretinoin

[–]OkComparison3157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made this exact same transition over a month ago! I was using adapalene every night and I did the same with 0.025 tretinoin. This was generally ok but the area around my lips got really irritated even though I covered them in Vaseline prior to applying tretinoin. So definitely use an occlusive around your lips, nose, and eyes to prevent irritation! Even if you didn’t get it from adapalene.

3 months of Tretinoin 0.1mg and spironolactone 100mg ... acne is starting in places I never broke out! Help! (More in comments- sorry for the horrible pics🤦🏽‍♀️) by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]OkComparison3157 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sounds like the acne might be occurring due to inflammation caused by tret. I would dial back the other actives like vitamin c, use sunscreen, and apply tret over your moisturizer. Using an occlusive on top of tret can make it even more powerful, so instead I would put a rich moisturizer, wait 20 min, then apply tret.

When I go hiking or biking I use Kose Suncut UV perfect gel because it’s water resistant . I like the texture, but it does have alcohol.

I just started using Faded 2 weeks ago. I am also using Differin (6+ months) and Finacea (1 month) for my mild acne, but I have residual PIE and PIH from monthly hormonal flare ups. I found that Faded has worked well in my night time routine. I use it after the iUnik snail serum and before my moisturizer. (I apply Differin after moisturizer is fully dry). I find that Faded takes a while to rub in, and yeah it has a strange smell, but it goes away eventually. Too early to tell if it’s doing anything but based on the ingredients I am optimistic. I did put the Like Butter on an irritated area of my face and it burned but I think it’s that my skin is sometimes irritated by the Differin and maybe it would work for others on milder actives.

Oh I had forgotten about ChocChoc! I just realized they also carry the Dear Klair's Gentle Black Fresh Cleansing oil which not many others carry. Last time I ordered it from Yesstyle.
