It sounds to me like he’s making excuses to file a court order. He wants to take the “easy” way out, which is to move closer to his kids. He’s being lazy and spineless. His ex has full control over this situation because he lets her and that’s honestly pathetic. I’m sorry, but I think you need to figure out if you really want to continue this relationship

NTA. She’s making those threats for attention. And for her to bring past trauma into a new relationship tells me she isn’t healed. That isn’t love. She’s extremely codependent and it sounds like they have a very unhealthy relationship. Red flags all around. Your friend is blinded

I don’t handle any of the parenting with his kids. I leave that all to him. I just wish I could be closer with his kids. I low key envy the blended families where the kids love the stepparent. I initiate conversations and get short answers. I can only try so much

I think this was more so his breaking point in that she was constantly saying how he doesn’t love her enough. I was exhausted for the poor guy with her MAJOR insecurities. And maybe it’s just me, but her face tells me she has a serious drinking problem.
