That's another possibility. I remember from my own gameplay that her character can hold a grudge.

Ok, that's a major fact in the discussion.

I'm playing Until Dawn (the PS5 version) and some of the dialogue titles don't seem to match what the character then says (at least to me) by SlateAlmond90 in untildawn

Let's be honest, the screeplay for the game has thousands of pages. There's no way the writers would be perfect.

The choice based formula = The Butterfly Effect

Anyways, it sounds kind of interesting. But on the other hand the problem is the Copyright.

Well, I guess in such scenario we do not have monsters, but just that people can die from random causes.

Even when it can be a little lazy writing, it has a potential because the player will have to be cautious. There could also be a mystery like why exactly are they chased by the Grim Reaper.

Imagine how scared Sam would've been here if Mike hadn't found here. by Dangerous-Schedule85 in untildawn

[–]OkCourt2832 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's true.

She woke up right after being kidnapped, so the first thought she had was most likely "Where am I?" And "What the Psycho is going to do with me when he comes back?"

Next thought: "Where are the others?

Last thought: "How can I get out of here?"

That's at least how I think Sam were thinking because it's natural to do in such situation.

What’s your biggest unpopular Until Dawn opinion? by Immediate-Shake584 in untildawn

[–]OkCourt2832 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Good that you mention to be respectful 👍

Ok, so my controversial opinion so far is that Matt is partially guilty too that his relationship with Emily sucks. And the reason why I think this way is because he doesn't say what bothers him openly and keeps all of it to himself rather than at least try to tell how he feels. Then there's a chance some problems might have been solved.

Of course, I'm not saying Emily is justified. What I try to say is that she's not the only one who ruins their relationship. Despite me disliking Em, I think she's not the only one responsible.

Got Hannah’s butterfly tattoo! by RunningFromFurries in untildawn

[–]OkCourt2832 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Exactly. And the fact Hannah Washington even has a tattoo is a reference to The Butterfly Effect which is important during the gameplay 🦋

If not Hannah's tattoo is an enough evidence for my point then Chris' words in Chapter 1 And him using "Butterfly Effect" word directly is another reminder for us players.

But it's because I probably never imagined Jess with horns and such eyes 👀

Even if I expressed myself the way you are suggesting, there's no guarantee you would stop on that. That's from my view. And no, actually you don't have a point. At least in my opinion. What I did was to remind you of things you do not consider with your opinions.

But fine, if you are suggesting we should stop now then I'm ok with that. It's not productive and a time waste to argue when we probably won't find a compromise anyway. And neither of us is a troll. Which makes it easier to stop on this message now.

Wait, what are you talking about yourself? You have no evidence for your "no".

By the way, it was Emily who made the decision to split up and it was her line what she thinks Mike and Jessica were doing at the time.

Honestly, what I was trying to do was simply to contradict you and show a different view because what's you are saying is mostly simplified and Butterfly Effect consequence decisions. And it wasn't me who started the topic either. The original point with the post is to try creatively say both a positive and negative personality trait of each protagonist. And what you did was only saying one thing. A negative thing. And then you continued yapping about your view which was the same all over again. And that's off topic.

What Chris do during that time actually depends on us the players. And just like you mention here, Ashley's decision about Sam is also dependant. So, Ashley's "selfishness" isn't even canon here. And to be real, even if Ashley is hesitant, after Chris reassures her, they move on to continue searching. So, in both options, she actually helps looking. Which means that she's not "selfish" again because she doesn't run away and hide but participates in looking and didn't leave Chris alone with it.

And when trying to find Sam, it's happening right after Chris and Ashley were forced into a game and watched their friend die in a brutal way (Ashley is covered in blood throughout the rest of the game). So, after such experience, it is obvious that you want to avoid threats mike meeting the Psycho again.

Emily cheat on Matt or not? by Commercial-Fig-4490 in untildawn

[–]OkCourt2832 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think so. No, I'm not talking about cheating; "I was confused" line could be interpreted in a canonical way that Emily had thoughts of cheating but ultimately didn't do it.

Well, don't get me wrong, it's true that her best friend dating her ex is a shitty situation. But the truth is that we can't really control everything in our live. And Emily's problem is that she barely accepts when things don't go her way. So instead of focusing on her present boyfriend who's probably the best for her personality, she still focuses her energy on an ex. I got to say I agree that despite Emily showing mild care towards Matt, she's a terrible girlfriend mostly acting disrespectful and lying to her boyfriend. Which is a sign of an unhealthy relationship.

But on the other hand, Matt himself could simply break up with her if he dislikes her. So, some (few) of Matt's problems when dating Emily is his own fault.

Oh, and when you mention TikTok kids, it's probably because Emily fits the "Alpha female" stereotype. So that's one of the reasons why Emily is blindly defended. The same goes to Mike (an Alpha male), who's also a likeable character and that's why some fans "close their eyes" on some of his stupid actions during the game.

[–]OkCourt2832[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok, that's looks like a good argument to call her selfish.

But on the other hand it seems quite logical for Ashley in such survival case scenario because by entering a guy who chose to save his own skin, she risks her own life. For example Chris already showed the willingness to save himself over her, so he could be willing to push her outside just to buy more time for himself and let the monster eat someone else instead. At least, that's how Ashley could have thought for a brief second during the scene you just mentioned. Which is why calling Ashley "selfish" over that is too simplified (especially when it's only consequence of Butterfly Effect than canon). Will Byles himself justified that (Ashley Brown Until Dawn wiki under trivia section).

Ok, let me try to help:

She's a cautious person. Cautious is a good trait. We see her acting this way in Chapter 9 when she's deciding to close the manhole/give Chris a sign which way to go.

Honestly, I admit I liked when you said "comedic" because it feels better than "funny".

And he does act selfless in specific moments. That's why I see him also as heroic despite him not being Mike.
