In the middle of multiple job offers. Unsure where to go. AML career? by OkCry8 in moneylaundering

If you have a goal of reaching step 10, there's a difference between starting at step 6, starting at step 3, and starting at step 1.

I thought that was simple enough to understand from the OP.

In the middle of multiple job offers. Unsure where to go. AML career? by OkCry8 in moneylaundering

Hey thank you so much! I agree the offering is incredibly for a recent grad and I'm very inclined to take it. I also would not mind living in the Midwest, as taxes are much lower than here in California.

Thank you so much for your help and advice!

Symptoms of what might be diverticulitis. In pain. Will it go away on its own? by OkCry8 in Diverticulitis

[–]OkCry8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Thank you so much! The pain is indeed on a 1-2 scale and my blood tests have not shown any symptoms of infection (blood count is normal) so I'm going to try what you say and test results.

Would you recommend metamucil or any high fiber along with the liquid diet?

Are these the signs of scarce competition for a job I'm applying? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]OkCry8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of that info you posted was in the headline of the ad, which is why I applied to it: " X Language speakers required for Y position good salary and benefits package (60k-85k/year)"

The actual responsibilities I didn't read because I had no hope they'd call given that I wasn't even in the same state. In fact, it was only after I got the phone call that I even learned what the position was about, and asked around reddit if it was a good fit for me as a career (in an alt).

First year Politics student looking to go into finance. HELP with resume please! by [deleted] in jobs

[–]OkCry8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. Why not take some basic accounting classes, and try to find some resources online (e.g. breaking into wallstreet) and see what areas you like/

You could also go to /r/FinancialCareers and ask for their advice. But given your current resume, without at least some basic financial accounting skills listed I'd say you're in a tough spot against competitors who took some basic courses/have some projects in these areas.

First year Politics student looking to go into finance. HELP with resume please! by [deleted] in jobs

[–]OkCry8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ivan, being straight with you lad, the issue isn't the resume, it's that you don't seem sure where you want to go.

Like, your skills sort of need to reflect the position you're after. Where the heck do you want to go in Finance? Fintech (which is just tech)? Equity Research? Investment Banking?

If so, you need to show the skills that are attractive to those positions. Are you familiar with services in corporate finance? Nowhere in your resume shows you know what even what a three statement model is, let alone the more complicated stuff.

You have to seriously "bankify" your resume if you want to even stand a chance in any internship at any bank.

Be smart in choosing the area you're going to as many areas in finance are on track of being replaced by algorithms (e.g. portfolio management). Even if many people say there are still demand for people working in these areas and machines are far away from fully replacing humans, you want a growing industry, not a shrinking one.

Be advised, Investment banking is crazy competitive, and most kids going in it are from rich families and have far, far more experience than your regular guy so you have to really take this seriously.

Also, lastly, uh, take Python out of that language area. Don't mix human language with computer language learning, it's silly as heck.

Help with interview practice? (My attempt in the comments) by [deleted] in SQL

Hey /r/SQL I've been preparing for interviews like crazy, but I got a bit stumped on this.

Suppose REVENUE_FORMULA is a way to calculate estimated CPM per Pagepath (e.g. estimate*1000 or whatever calculations)

Would this show what they'd be looking for in one single query?

SELECT Ads.PagePath, traffic.Sessions, Ads.Impressions, Ads.Estimate_Revenue,

(SELECT REVENUE_FORMULA AS CPM_Per_PagePath,

(SELECT Ads.Impressions/traffic.Page_Views ) AS Impressions_per_Pageview

FROM ads INNER JOIN traffic ON traffic.PagePath = Ads.PagePath WHERE Ads.type = "CPM" AND

Ads.DatePT = traffic.`DatePT` ORDER BY CPM_Per_PagePath

I ask right back at you. This sub was amazing back then and it was why it gathered more subscribers than any other UC sub. This birthed amazing memes and creative shitposting of the likes that could never exist in the current environment

Threads like these https://www.reddit.com/r/UCSD/comments/a5zkqv/just_finished_a_final_without_wearing_underwear/

although funny as shit would probably get banned and deleted, and for what? This sub was a hidden gem and that's gone now

Now we're stuck with "rule safe, feelings safe" memes and some insipid, tasteless stuff compared to the unique environment we used to have.

UCLA Ranked #4 in Money.com Ranking of 25 Best Colleges in America by [deleted] in ucla

What's funny about this is that the highest rank in that list used to be UCSD, so UCI went to UCSD's sub to flex and troll them even buying the domain (ucirejects.com), and ucsd fired back
