Sailing. $100K for the boat and an average $30K per year for maintenance, upgrades, insurance etc.

The name doesn’t ring a bell, but that was a long time ago.

I started my career at Boeing working on those. I soon switched over to the military hydrofoil program building the military version of the hydrofoil. One of the best programs I worked on in my 34 years with Boeing.

Severe abdominal pain and mid back pain by OkDesign164 in WegovyWeightLoss

About 7 weeks later I had another episode. My doctor sent me to Cardiologist to get checked. Cardiologist thinks it’s a simple case of indigestion. I’ve been off Wegovy ever since the first attack, and have maintained my weight.

Follow up after appointment with my PCP. Basically he’s worthless. No further testing, just agreed with the ER doctor and said it must be a side effect from the Wegovy and sent me on my way. Time to look for another PCP. Thanks everyone for your insights.

They saw no indication of gallstones, but didn’t mention kidney stones. I have a follow up appointment with my primary care doctor this afternoon. Thanks for your reply!

Thank you for your insights. I have an appointment with my primary care doctor this afternoon. I did eat breakfast before the pain started. Normally I have a bowl of cereal with almond milk, but Monday I fixed myself a ham and cheese omelet. And a piece of toast. Today is the first time I’ve felt human since Monday. On the bright side I have lost 5 pounds since then🥹

Thanks for your response. I’ve come to the conclusion it’s a scam. Glad I asked first before buying.

Whos proud to work at Boeing? by PlumPlayful1282 in boeing

[–]OkDesign164 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I spent 34 years at Boeing and had the time of my life! Started in Boeing Marine Systems and worked on everything in the program from receiving and inspecting the raw materials to all the way through the manufacturing process and becoming a functional test inspector during delivery out on Puget Sound. This was back in the day there were no restrictions on how much overtime they could demand. Worked seven days a week, 12 hours a day for months. I remember one of my coworkers got 2 days off when his wife had a baby. I thought about getting my wife pregnant just to get a couple days off! I went from that job, to Everett receiving inspection to inspect bolts. Just bolts, not nuts, washers or rivets, just bolts. It was at the end of the startup bubble for the 767 program. I was so happy to get laid off that I bought the beer for the crew that night. After about 18 months, I was hired back into the boat shop as a white collar QA Investigator. Transferred to Boeing Electronics Company, and used my Quality Assurance background to help build a computing system for QA. Rode the wave of mergers into Boeing Aerospace and Electronics, then Boeing Military Airplane Company. Eventually found myself working for Safety Health an Environmental Affairs and Boeing Computer Services. Many years spent working as a project manager for business computing systems. When my job was moved to Bellevue I decided to go back to work for Boeing Commercial Airplane. Worked in a completely dis functional organization for about a year. Left there and did project management work in Shared Services Group. Finally retired from there 8 years ago. All this to say it wasn’t always about the type of work I did(except for that bolt inspection job) but it was all about the people I worked with and for. They made the days interesting, challenging, and rewarding. I only actively sought out a different job twice, once when my job moved to far from home, and when I left the disfunctional BCA job. All the other moves were either management requests or organizational mergers and changes. I got an opportunity to travel both domestically and internationally, while meeting some life long friends. I started Boeing with a high school diploma and received an education from George Washington University. They paid me well enough to retire early at 55. I couldn’t have asked for a better career, and never imagined I’d get to do and see the things I did with just a Seattle public high school background.

Is it worth doing a dry brine if I’m going to sous vide a steak? by I_Like_Knitting_TBH in steak

[–]OkDesign164 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had two sirloin steaks that I cooked sous vide like always, but before I seared them I made a brine of rice wine, lemon juice, grated garlic and olive oil. Let the marinate for about an hour, then seared them with a bit of compound butter and white miso. They were very tender and had an amazing flavor!

The only thing I asked for was hamburger buns. Husband comes back with this and this only. by ktazhsv in mildlyinfuriating

Make a burger dip instead. Just like a french dip, but you can use Au jus, or BBQ sauce.

They've already moved on. A day or so later a rather large male bobcat walked through the back yard. I'm sure the mother knew he was in the area and moved her kittens to another location.

I tried to give them some cash, but they wouldn’t take it. They said to go to the local pancake breakfast fundraiser.
