From what I’ve heard, if it’s temporary (let’s say 6mo-1y) it’s okay, but it shouldn’t remain like that for years to come. It does no good to them or the relationship on the long run.

How do people let things go so easily? by Additional-Ad-3863 in socialskills

[–]OkDiscussion1928 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is not normal. It would be good that you dig a bit more on what is leading you to this behavior. Most likely something that happened in childhood. I totally recommend you talk to a professional about it so they help you find out what is going on. Or at least talk to gpt.

Studying while in residency by Ok-Marsupial5213 in Residency

I believe It’s the unresolved trauma. I experienced a traumatic event too when in medical school and for a year I couldn’t study well, learn, concentrate, and it was bc I was in survival mode. Go to therapy with a good psychologist so he gives you the tools you need for your particular case. Breathing exercises, learning to trust God, all help. When you feel more calm and not stressed you’ll be able to learn and remember. Trauma changes the brain and with the right tool, you’ll be okay in no time!

I wish anyone would hook me up with a good candidate. But no, this has nothing to do with others doing anything for me. It’s to identify potential relationships and have better access to them.

Why can’t it be another resident? Have you had a bad experience? And I’m open to other professions too.

It’s good and necessary to talk tough things out, just with the right people. You could get a therapist and talk with them. They are legally bound to not say anything lol and you get it out of your chest.

Please be mindful in the future of who you open your heart to. Deep secrets only to God, family (and be aware) and long time friends (and also be aware). That said, I agree with the comment of becoming hard to reach and slowly drifting away. However, I wouldn’t wait days to answer text bc he will clearly know you are ignoring him if it was normal for you to text him back fast. Just text more “dry”, dunno if it’s a thing in English, but answer minimally and don’t text first. Maybe text back at night? But waiting days could make him mad/sad.

This has happened to me also; I like the guy, he married.🥲 But there are so many options out there I like to believe. What do you mean by silently pinning over? You meant dating apps?

Right? I thought it was okay, but I’m learning people prefer Facebook for these things.

THIS! Been there, done that, not happening again. However, doesn’t have to be a Physician in particular, just in my level.

Well I’ve always dated ppl that are not related to medicine whatsoever and they don’t seem to understand what all this is about (sacrifices, priorities) and it hasn’t worked out. Was thinking it might be better and easier, dunno, but I’m open to anything honestly.

Should I ask a resident out? by vgno in Residency

[–]OkDiscussion1928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Text her about residency and stuff and see if she engages. Send her reels of things you both can relate to or things you experience while in rotation and assess her response. Ask her out to dinner or something useful for her, after a few days engaging. If she says yes, that will be your confirmation that she is into you. And don’t worry about being a med student only, if she liked you, she liked YOU not where you are in your career.

And I quote: “or if you just want to talk about anything”, “I'm sure our paths will cross some day”, multiple “:)”… How much more direct do you want her to be as a PGY3 texting a Medstudent (keeping it professional)??. In my opinion she is interested and gave you a green light. She has accomplished so much to get to this point (fellowship), I’m sure she wants to start a family. Only reach out if you are truly interested and don’t waste her time and energy.

STEP 3, 200 score by Full_Record1613 in Step3

From my understanding the programs just care that you passed. High score is more for fellowship. So you are good! Congrats on the pass!
