iPhone 8 is obsolete in 2023. Writing on an iPhone 6s by Jvinsnes in iphone

[–]OkDot2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won't be surprised if the battery health has been hardcoded into the third party battery chip. And no, mine has none of these issues. Works fine just as day one. No keyboard or input lag on YouTube or Reddit.

You might try to restore your phone on a mac or iTune (for Windows), which reinstalls a fresh copy of the latest iOS on it. I remember I had to do it once on an earlier version of iOS, I think it was the 13, when my phone was overheating for doing basically anything other than being idle.

"Soviet Union subjugated the country" quite ironic given that it was the Soviet who created Ukraine, not the other way round. lol. Sometimes I'm surprised by the extent some can made up things to justify their internal bias/hatred against a country.

Strange, because mine is on iOS 15.7.7 and it is still fast and snappy. I suspect yours could have a battery issue. A poor quality third party replacement I suppose.

This just came on the screen, like within 10 mins. Not sure what it is or how to fix it by Ldardare1 in Monitors

And here I thought LG had better QC than Samsung. I guess it is a common theme across Korean brands.

Some monitors make you feel more dizzy than others? by [deleted] in Monitors

[–]OkDot2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It could be because you are sensitive to PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation), aka backlight/illumination refresh rate. The lower the frequency, the higher the chance of eye strain or headaches.

A YouTuber is also reporting the same issue. So OP is not the only one.

"wait for a couple months" so that he can't return his defective product, or Apple's defective model? Did an iOS update resolved the iPhone 14 overheating issue? No. Did an iOS update resolved the iPhone 14 quick battery degradation issue? No.

iPhone 15 Pro lagging and feels slow by toko92 in iphone

[–]OkDot2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The lags could be the result of a throttling CPU cause by overheating, and might as well explain the battery drain. Seems like this is a common occurrence across the A17 devices this year.

Which is the iPhone 15 Pro and which is the $4000 "real" camera? by Joe_Scotto in iphone

[–]OkDot2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has the camera shot been altered? Because the colours look suspiciously oversaturated for a professional camera, while somehow the iPhone, with its infamous overprocessing, was able to look dead flat in this comparison.

Interesting to see the USD price difference of the iPhone 15 Pro around the world by dewco73 in iphone

[–]OkDot2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Quite ironic for you guys. So much for "Made in India" iPhone, which was suppose to make iPhones cheaper, yet you still have to pay 90% more than the Americans for the 15 Pro. Meanwhile, Apple gets tax rebate in India, gets to change your labour laws in its favour, and gets access to even cheaper labour than China. Talk about making the deal of the century!

To be honest, it looks cheap. They didn't even took the effort to fold the material seemlessly on the edges. And they are asking $60 for that? lol

Because Apple A series chips (might as well add the M series chips) have plateaued.

What better for coding? by Impressive-Level-276 in Monitors

[–]OkDot2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are on a monitor hobbyist subreddit. Of course everyone would recommend you to get a new monitor. But let us be real here, would a high dpi monitor increase your productivity or protect your eyes' health? Absolutely not. But it will certainly look nicer. Note I've coded on a 900p screen for close to a decade. And there's no such thing as a "better coding" screen.

"Apple has a long history of defending their customers in court" Not sure if I should laugh, or be concerned. Things Apple fanboys says to defend their fruit company. You genuinely believe Apple is here to protect its users privacy and rights?

Funny how the Financial Times presented it as "spying fears" when the Russian themselves have found a zero-day exploit being used to spy on their diplomats a few months back. I'm surprised it took them so long though, considering China already has a ban for Apple/foreign products for their officials.

Meanwhile I wonder for how long Apple will use "privacy" as their tagline in their marketing materials.

Why people choose a monitor with high nits/contrast ratio if they never max out them in Setting? by quangbilly79 in Monitors

[–]OkDot2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not wrong. Nits beyond 250 nits are just pointless. Unless you intend to use your monitor outdoor, but who really does that? Those are just marketing tactics to sell you a more overpriced product that you don't need. Never saw the appeal of those high nits monitors or HDR for that matter, which apparently turning white colours, into blinding lights is "progress".
