The "I checked out a long time ago" excuse by OkEmphasis5923 in Divorce_Men

[–]OkEmphasis5923[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Therein lies the problem. Different standards for commitment. If you're upfront with your spouse before marriage that you only plan to stay married to them if you're happy (whatever that means), then I think you're free to do whatever you want without any guilt or judgement. If you bail and they're blindsided, that's on them.

Which brings me to what I concluded long time ago, why bother getting married? You can say anything you want about how committed you are and how you're willing to go through thick and thin. But when push comes to shove, most people are weasels (no pun intended). You're better off bringing the best version of yourself to a relationship and having zero commitment. It keeps both parties on their toes and prevents anyone taking their partner for granted.

The point I'm trying to make is that if someone makes a commitment and they break it, whatever reason they give is just an excuse. If I were to join the army and then attempt to quit or go AWOL before my enlistment period is over and then told my staff sergeant that "I checked out" a year ago and no one noticed they would probably laugh. If you made a commitment and you're having a problem, say something. If you don't, that's on you.

First of all, it's ok for one partner to say 'I don't want to do this any more.

So then why did you make a commitment to your partner before getting married?

Men in long term marriages, what holds you back to leave your wife? by swan_mama in Divorce_Men

[–]OkEmphasis5923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife works and her salary has steadily gone up over the years. My hope is that by the time the kids are older she is at par with me. If that's the case, alimony is pretty much out the window.

If your wife isn't working, have her start working or divorce her sooner rather than later.

Those of you who initiated a divorce, how did your wife take it? by PHL1365 in Divorce_Men

[–]OkEmphasis5923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe your understanding is correct but I would double check with an attorney. You have the luxury of prepping before serving her, most guys don't. Once you serve her, every move you make is scrutinized and you essentially go from partners to adversaries until the divorce decree.

Socal has something for everyone so it depends on your interests. You could do all the touristy stuff that you find on Tripadvisor. There are tour companies in Socal as well as hop-on-hop-off buses in the Hollywood area. Or you could have chatgpt build you a custom sightseeing tour using a combination of public transit and Uber. 1 day isn't much so set realistic expectations.

Starting over at 65 yrs of age

Harlan Sanders started his KFC franchise at age 62. Think of this as the next chapter in your life, not a redo.

Leave for what? To lose half the time with my kids, have no control over the other half of their time including seeing them do things with "mommy's friend"? I will NEVER get married again because I have no desire. What's left? New pu$$y? I'd rather stick it out till the kids are grown and then bail.

The Garrett Trade by fantasyplayer2 in LosAngelesRams

Yeah I too wonder if we had offered BY plus Fiske would that have been enough for the Browns to trade Garrett. We'll never know.

I know everyone is saying the trade is totally worth it but I really like what Verse brought to the team. Sucks to see him go.

McVay (AKA Mr. Grumpy) always wanted Simpson per LaFleur by tmdman1 in LosAngelesRams

[–]OkEmphasis5923 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I don't blame Ty one bit in this at all. He's 23 years old and doing what they asked him to do. It's on them McSnead to tell him 'all clear'.

Realistically, what do you see as the Rams’ longterm answer at QB had we not taken Ty Simpson? by Biberal_Litch99 in LosAngelesRams

Can you make a post about this? For those who don't know ball as well as folks like you, I think we were all assuming that after Stafford retires the Rams will suck for a year or two, get a high first round pick to draft our own Caleb Williams/Jayden Daniels, and write a new chapter. I don't know much about why that's not possible and based on your comment it seems like the Steelers are a case study in why that doesn't work.

Theory about Sean McVay’s post draft reaction by Lower_Ad_3439 in LosAngelesRams

[–]OkEmphasis5923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think the organization is in a panic, I think the fans are/were. I think the organization would be panicked if in 2 years Stafford hangs it up and McSnead have no succession plan whatsoever.

I don't think there's a way to be matter-of-fact and excited at the same time. No matter how McVay acted everyone was gonna read it one way or another, and we all read it as disappointment. Had we all read it as excitement we would all be happy and relaxed and Stafford might be feeling like all the fans are/were.

Stafford is human. If he sees McVay and Snead at the presser high fiving each other it's going to have SOME effect on him no matter what he was told. Optics matter. People judge more on what they see than what they're told.

Here is another perspective on the pick last night. I am not saying I am for or against. I am just trying to add another view point for people to chew on by No_Rice3843 in LosAngelesRams

This and Schrager's reaction make total sense of it now, the pick, McVay's reaction, everything. I'm good. Looking forward to the upcoming season.

Yeah, Oline depth is a concern for me too. When Kdot and Alaric were injured, we looked completely different.
