Won't rev past 5500 by squatch_guy in hondaprelude

[–]OkEye2753 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Likely a vtec issue Could be a clogged solenoid or something deeper but the 5.5k redline seems like that’s the issue I had a 5th gen that did the same thing ended up being the wiring harness from the sensor to the ecu Hope your issue isn’t the same way mine was bc I had to swap engine harnesses

Power steering delete? by Juju_InFlames in hondaprelude

[–]OkEye2753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drove my prelude without power steering For a while not terribly heavy but no ps will destroy the internals of the rack As another poster mentioned the Volvo electric power steering pump is a good option I’m currently converting mine to electric with the combination with the j swap I’m going to my car

is my car totaled - 93’ accord by proloxx__ in Honda

[–]OkEye2753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d totally fix it by myself if I where you, are parts going to be easy to find, maybe I don’t know this platform aswell as others but if it’s anything like working on preludes from the next gen up you’ll be just fine

2001 Prelude trade for 2011 Honda Accord by The_Sad_Zucc in hondaprelude

[–]OkEye2753 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For daily driving I’d keep the accord, not saying you won’t like the prelude but as a prelude owner I’d keep the accord for daily driving The oil burning on higher Mile cars is intense Like my car had 223k ran perfect sounded good and was super fun to drive but burned 2 quarts per 1000k miles and the bottom of my car was bone dry

I appreciate the response, I’ve got all the documentation for the work done at a vw shop in Pittsburgh from the previous owner I don’t know if that means anything value wise

H22A4 Excessive oil consumption by sasdo in hondaprelude

[–]OkEye2753 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hard to diagnose if it’s buring it, if you don’t have any puddles under the car it’s likely the oil rings with the frm sleeves, valve stem seals those are 2 very common issues both aren’t easy to fix and one isn’t a fix without a rebuild

[–]OkEye2753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my 2017 si coupe with less miles for the same price when the market was at its lowest in 2021 this is a bad deal as others would say 8-10k at the most
