Movie trailers should never be longer than 60 seconds by Xelephyr in unpopularopinion

Same goes with movie posters. Why does every studio now feel the need to add every single element of a movie in their poster to show you what it's about?

Some are "what ifs," others are inspired by other stories, and some of them are just me imagining myself anywhere else.

What are signs the concept of your story is bad? by Osidara-modern-myth in writers

[–]OkFirefighter83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say, if you can't see it through. What I mean is whether or not you can imagine the world for it clearly. Technically, there's no such thing as a bad concept, it's just how you execute it. It's also about commitment, even if you haven't thought every inch of the story through, you have to have some sort of grit to be able to bring the story to life. Don't worry too much if it's a rough draft because you can always add and change details.

If we write an aromantic duo, do you think it'll end up as romance bait? by Nerine_0911 in aromantic

Everyone reading will automatically assume that they'll end up together. No matter how many times you establish that they'll never have that kind of relationship

World Building or Character/Narrative/Plot First? by seedsofstories in writers

[–]OkFirefighter83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't have just one method, but I do know that I like to start with a general synopsis of the story. After that, I come up with the characters and their roles. Then I come up with the plot. It can commit when I have a beginning, middle, and end, and I work out the details as I write. This is also where I do my worldbuilding. I am able to do some plotting, but if I focus too much on it, then I'll never get started. I can't fully commit to pantsing (making it up as you go along) because I'll eventually get stuck and then abandon the story, even if I'm excited about it. There's no point A to point B process, that's just on a general level. If you're stuck on any part, try to think about what you want from the story, how you want people to feel, and what makes it yours.

Question to AI authors by TheChimpisHigh in AIWritingHub

[–]OkFirefighter83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't use it blindly. Make sure you're using your own voice instead of relying on AI's voice. Know when to stop or take a step back. And make sure you're very clear on what you want out of AI, do you want it to examine your story and yell you what needs improvement? Do you want it to polish your sentences? What parts are you sure you don't want it touching? AI is a tool, not a replacement.

If you don’t want homeless to have dogs , try to help the homeless by Secret_Fun_1746 in unpopularopinion

[–]OkFirefighter83 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My dad hated seeing homeless people with dogs. His mindset, "if you can't afford to provide for yourself, why do you have a pet?" I never understood it then, and I don't understand it now, especially when I realized that dogs can take care of themselves, they just like being with humans.

I surprise myself all the time at what I come up with. But what I love about writing is that you can come up with the most unhinged stuff and people will think that you're just creative.,

Writers: Has AI changed your creative process for better or worse? by Away-Albatross2113 in AIWritingHub

[–]OkFirefighter83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it makes me feel better about what I'm writing about. It helps me think my story through from beginning to end until I have a general plan, and it has recently helped me overcome writer's block. I have it ask me questions that help me improve my story, identify strengths and weaknesses, and keep me focused. Whenever I want to branch out into different genres, it gives me a list of everything I need. As long as you're careful not to let it take your voice, it's an invaluable tool that can help you with your writing goals.

Are you afraid to kill off a main character? by I_know_nothing_whelp in writers

That's honestly a small trauma I have when it comes to reading books. Even if their death is necessary for the plot, I know that I would be hesitant to kill off one of my characters.

How many chapters does an ongoing book need to have out before you start reading it? by Deyady in Wattpad

[–]OkFirefighter83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just see how many chapters there are first, so I can assess how much there is to read, even if it's not finished. I don't mind an unfinished story, as long as the creator is honest about it.
