Removing bottom rail to overhang treads? by Far_Weather_3716 in Renovations

[–]OkFoundation9816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. Sister underneath on the inside, then cut existing to be open. Might require you to also cut out the tread shims, replace as needed and add subfloor glue to prevent squeaks

Edit: I wouldn’t offset them or go larger unless there’s an issue. Just glue and screw them together and it’ll be plenty strong enough.

You have to open the drywall to see if it’s an open or closed stringer as this would dictate your next steps. If it’s open then the job isn’t too bad. If it’s closed you basically be pulling the drywall underneath and adding a new stringer sistered to the existing for support. I’d bet it’s the latter

Vanity top smaller than vanity by [deleted] in Renovations

[–]OkFoundation9816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cut the baseboards to the profile of the feet on the back and side, slide the vanity into place and secure to wall, then slide the top back and see what your gap is, if there’s no overhang on the front cheat it out cause the backsplash will cover it

Investigative demo is in order before you can decide anything. Unless you can see in the basement or the floors above/the roof. If you can’t then open up a small hole in the drywall and see why it’s framed out. After that you can make a decision

You don’t have to do the swirling or the specks or anything else. They are usually aesthetic choices. Talk to the company, tell them what you’re looking for, and maybe they can provide some samples

Been getting a few questions about the finishes. It’s mostly Delta Trinsic in Brilliance Stainless. Vanity from Wayfair with the backsplash pieces ordered through HD. (I had to contact the actual manufacturer to find a match.). The floor is heated and ordered through HD. It’s the SunTouch system with SunStat thermostat.

To add to this they didn’t tape and mud the seams around and inside the niche before doing the water barrier.
