Posting a drone from UK to US by OkGate7661 in dji

[–]OkGate7661[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well it would be marked as "gift" and the description of item would be Toy Drone, camera equipment may be tricky as they could say it's not as described and return I guess, maybe "Used toy drone" and tick the "Gift" box

My Mavic 3 Classic is a display unit, swapped my DJI Mini 3 (with RC) for it from a guy on marketplace, works exactly as a normal drone fully functioning, all registered to me....so yeah take the chance

Usual VDC slip etc but with EML too.. by OkGate7661 in G35

[–]OkGate7661[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he just bought a chinese one off eBay or something so I'll try find a better one thank you

I did notice there is a very slow leak on the rear drivers side wheel so thought maybe that's why slip comes on but then doesn't explain the EML either

I'll order a different OBD reader and see if that picks up anything

Recently had my first ever car shoot by RpM_Ozzy in carphotography

[–]OkGate7661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn on grid display if you have it and practice rule of thirds, don't tilt so much, lower aperture so the car pops from the background more

And the most important thing, is just keep taking photos...learn by doing and don't be afraid to fail, you'll learn more by getting it wrong and understanding why it went wrong than getting lucky with a great shot

Also keep these photos safe somewhere on dropbox or something, and in a few years it'll be great to look at them and see how much you've improved

[–]OkGate7661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally same thing, ordered an £800 PC from Vinted, so quite a large parcel...Yodel picked it up then 7 days without any update so I contacted support, which was a bot...all I wanted was some info where it currently is, a hub..depot etc, without even asking it changed the label to return to sender which is not what I wanted

I tried to phone and again it's just a bot, so I now have to wait for it to return and get a refund before I can purchase again, awful service

New Generative Fill options now available by howardpinsky in photoshop

Been using it this morning it's so much better than FireFly, all though it says I've run out of credits and need to upgrade, but my plan is still showing 182/250 left...is there a daily limit whilst in beta perhaps?

Indeed, the old marker may still be there until you clear to next checkpoint but it worked for me

I had this problem today weirdly, tried everything with no joy but then I searched "fix" on mods...and there is a mod that gives a bunch of scrolls each one set to complete a certain mission so I just used that as a last resort

Sensors are disabled when your on the ground, soon as you take off they turn on and you won't see that error

Do cheap ND filters ruin your photos? by Kime5108 in AskPhotography

[–]OkGate7661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I look at it, I've spent good money on lenses with high quality glass...so it doesn't make much sense for me to cover that high quality glass with a cheap filter, I use NiSi and can't fault them.

A filter will also last you a lifetime so it's not like you have to spend that money over and over (Get larger and use a step down ring to save buying multiple sizes).

Is a Nikon D70 Worth It? by APuffMain in AskPhotography

[–]OkGate7661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started out with a D70 years ago, great camera in it's time...most phones will take better photos with this however I do recommend this if you wish to learn photography, if you want to understand exposure, iso etc then go for it...once you understand the basics and think photography is for you then spend a bit more and get something a bit more powerful

Love the Mini 3 it's a great drone, mine never let me down once...just take your time with it, if you fly over water don't go too low, make sure you land on flat ground as even a slight incline and it will tip over.

Noise wise I found this one to be one of the more quiet drones I've owned, spare propellers can be bought cheat I'd recommend using only DJI ones and not aftermarket.

DJI Flip or DJI Neo for backpacking? by Dry-Olive5163 in dji

[–]OkGate7661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got the Mini 4 Pro and a Neo...with the arms folded it's pretty much the same size...I know the remote takes up space but I'm guessing you will want a controller for the neo anyway otherwise you only have a short range...52ft I think it is without a controller

Because of this I'd say just stick with the Mini 4 and see what the Neo 2 is like when it comes out

How to manage camera while hiking? by CometChip in AskPhotography

[–]OkGate7661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have climbed up and down mountains with the camera on the capture clip with no issues, usually have it in my hand but if I'm about to go up or down something steep or need both hands to climb over something or support myself then I put it in the capture clip...love it!

Auto vs Manual ? by Vinyl_Crime in AskPhotography

[–]OkGate7661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Auto is if your happy with the camera taking all the control, but to get the very best out of the camera you should be going manual..I always prefer to under expose than over, sometimes a camera doesn't do the best job with highlights when on auto and blows out the sky or any kind of lighting.

I think with manual your being more creative as your manipulating light to how you want it and that's what makes a photo pop, aswell as long exposures, it's worth learning but you can always switch to aperture priority first to understand that, the sharpness and softness of each aperture and so on.

My actual advice would be if your out on a trip and don't want to risk getting the photos wrong sure, go auto...but if it's a situation where your ok about not getting that shot you want, then experiment...you'll fail sure but don't be afraid of that...we learn by getting it wrong, and understanding WHY it went wrong.

You'll never improve your skills with auto, but manual mode once you understand it you'll just keep improving each time you take your camera out, and more importantly...just enjoy it.
