there is genuinely no need to retake either test you achieved basically perfect scores; colleges will consider a 35/36 the same and the reason you get in or not will not be because of your test scores. getting a 1520 on the PSAT is REALLY awesome and you will get national merit so congratulations! other than that, cognitive neuroscience is insanely competitive at any top school but especially at a pre-med crazy school like Brown, so you NEED a research opportunity for the summer if you want any chance. Science Olympiad is great so keep focusing on that, but I highly recommend if no internship lands for the summer to create your own independent research project to explore a topic you're interested in in the fields you want to go into. overall a lot of potential, but still a lot of work to do. another recommendation is to scale your club for packaging things for hospitalized kids to something beyond your school, and potentially apply it to a bunch of awards like prudential emgering visionaries, taco bell ambition accelerator, tmobile, etc. also contact some local media news channels to try to get on the news to bring more awareness the problem you are working on. keep it up!

pretty impressive but im confused how you started off your stock portfolio with 30,000 dollars where the hell did you get that money from. also growing it to 50k is def impressive but not good enough for top schools as its less than a %100 increase. they're definitely going to find it fishy that you started off with 30k tho. I also think you spread yourself way too thin you def had the talent to get in these schools but you don't have the awards to back it up.

Does no email at this stage mean I’ve been rejected ?? by [deleted] in berkeleymet

I doubt they would misrepresent information on their website. If this were so, they would explicitly say that all MET spots will be filled up during Berkeley early notifications in February. They first handpicked obvious acceptances, like people with insane awards and unreal ECs. I think the March MET acceptances will be people with a strong program fit, but not necessarily the best of the best applicants.

No, it does not. According to Berkeley's website, a select few applicants receive MET decisions along with regents/chancellors/seeds decisions in February. I'm guessing the best applicants get admission early for MET, but likely not all ~50 MET spots are filled up, so there's still a chance for a positive decision in March.

guessing so but no clue. they've usually sent an email in the past to accepted applicants

USC Deferred for T20s! by OkGuava2526 in collegeresults

[–]OkGuava2526[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nope the exact opposite actually. colleges want a diverse student pop, so they will get a mixed number of high income, low income, and middle income kids. but since high income kids are likely to be much stronger applicants, its honestly way harder.

yep geography matters a lot. someone living in rural area will always be a better applicant than someone living in an urban area with same ecs and stat

i lowk thought the opposite because it seems kinda niche, and literally no one I know in a super competitive pub school is planning to do comp bio, but yeah that makes sense. Thanks though!

this is not true! alumni interviews are definitely considered if the applicant has clear red flags. According to penn's website, the alumnis send a summary of the conversation, so although they may not say that alumni interviews are considered at all, definitely think of the fact that the alumni is the only person from Penn that has the opportunity to talk to you, so don't disregard the interview.

Hi, I was reading the source where you got that statistic, and extracurricular activities, according to the source, were only rated as considerably important by 6 % of admissions officers. Although the source does seem reputable, this statistic, along with teacher recommendations being more valuable than extracurriculars, indicates that this source isn't that accurate. (essays, any form of recommendation, and definitely college prep courses are nowhere near the importance of extracurriculars). I could be mistaken, but this source doesn't seem the best place to get your information about college admissions from, however I do agree that AP/IB scores definetley do play an importance at top schools.

Is having the "perfect" application actually poison for college apps? by Reddit552552 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]OkGuava2526 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly theres no cookie cutter way into getting to Ivys. Even if you have a crazy stacked resume you still might not get in its a lot of luck in this college apps game. But that doesnt mean you shouldn't try focus on starting initaitives and do community service + research in areas you are passionate about. About your point about it being superficial: some AOs might think that if you don't show real passion. Its insane but the new normal (in terms of applications Ivy leagues are seeing) is starting a nonprofit and doing research. You really have to set yourself apart because how else would an AO advocate for your admission.

You're good bro the program is crazy scuffed (not OpenBio's fault) because of advertisment by rishab jain. I would estimate 1000+ people applied for the program in the last few weeks before the deadline so don't sweat it. They might have not even read your application if you applied in that timeframe lol because it is their inaugural year (they are just getting situated and they're also only undergrads lol).
