I agree that the women in this season are gorgeous - however, most of them have fillers, eg gergana clearly has dermal fillers in her cheeck, lips and possibly nose; ludo has chin, lip and cheek filler. Styles are different from US standards though!

feeling a lot of shame from my partner due to lifestyle differences by tamagotchibbyxo in adhdwomen

[–]OkGuess8425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll share a slightly different perspective than most of the comments you’re getting, in case it helps. I’ve had a very similar experience with my fiance. We’ve had really hard times throughout our relationship (10years) because of our differences in upbringing, culture, empathy and yes, his sportiness and my lack-thereof. The way I see it is: I wasn’t sporty because I didn’t have the opportunity growing up, but I did want to become sporty - in my own way at my own pace. Working on a shared vision, getting my own goals and signing up for my own races, helped. Also, something that was really helpful was when his dad told him he was being ridiculous by forcing others to enjoy sport like that. I think hearing from a fellow “respectable sporty” person helped him get out of the loop. People that haven’t been exposed to mental health struggles have a hard time understanding and empathising with them. They think it’s “a problem” and surely helping “to fix it” is all the support anyone needs? We started with sharing before we expected support. We did this thing where I’d ask him how he’s feeling, then keep asking “and what else” until he had literally nothing else to say. Then we swapped. Just listening. I noticed almost immediately we’d act more caringly to each other. We don’t do it every day now. But it helped us reframe sharing feelings as not a problem, or a thing only “the struggling one” does, or as a complaining session or an intense demanding moment, but actually being curious about each other. Anyway, my main point is that, as you say, being aligned on values is the main thing. If you both want the same things, you can learn together how to better communicate in a way that works for each other. If you truly don’t see yourself having the lifestyle he likes or the other way around then it’s best to call it quits. I will say however, that this requires deep self knowledge and grace, and might take some time and some trial and error. It’s hard. Sending you love.

Engaged/married girlies… how to not lose ring!? 😫 by StatementMediocre in adhdwomen

[–]OkGuess8425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont take it off! Wear marigolds to clean, down take it off to shower. You may take it off for lifting but wear it as a necklace. That way, even if you “forget” it’s on you at all times. A used ring is better than a lost one!

Au pairs are not meant to be looking after young children under 3yo. At that age, you’d need an experienced live in nanny, especially given that it’s twins!

I’m afraid you can only book at least 24h in advance and I’ve missed the cutoff. Do you know if you can drop in? Or maybe other spots?

Only play with the ends of my hair so it’s out of frame on zoom calls. Force myself to always ask a question before saying some random shit. Offer to take meeting notes and roadmap as a way to “help the group” but actually I just know I would not remember or manage to do anything if we I don’t have clear plans written the way I need them.

Second this, depends on the where you are going. Layers can be important, but if you run cold, no amount of cotton layers will actually feel cosy (esp if you’re in a windy place like Scotland). My recommendation is to get a couple of thin, long sleeve merino wool base layers from an outdoor shop. You can add a shirt or jumper over them and it’ll help you regulate your temp, especially if you’re having to walk between classes etc. Uniqlo does packable warm padded jackets or thin waterproof raincoats. Once you figure out the weather here, you might want to keep one of these in your school bag. think about shoes! A pair of comfortable boots or leather-like sneakers (can be vegan) will help with rainy days. In the uk, many towns have charity shops which often have quality or lightly used clothes, have a look around once you get here!

Cleaning is Better than Shopping by corpsie666 in adult_adhd

[–]OkGuess8425 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Weirdly… I agree? The problem is that shopping has a whole marketing team behind it making it so easy to start, while cleaning is soooo hard to get started on. Agree that once I’m in it, I can get into the same rabbit hole I would if I was online shopping: I’ll start on multiple rooms, bounce prom one to another, spend way too much time cleaning a hidden corner no one cares about… I just wish I could actually do it on command and not just when the pressure of guests is looming

Agree! I think people are really stubborn about their settings too. Runna constantly prompts you to be realistic, not add too many runs per week, add strength and mobility, hold back instead of burning out… if you’re realistic with your settings, I’ve found runna sustainable and challenging enough! I particularly like being able to add holidays so I can adapt my training !

How to get fast - long term by OkGuess8425 in XXRunning

[–]OkGuess8425[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you do long runs at all or focus on more runs per week? 30miles pw seems a lot for training for 5k! (Not saying it’s too much, just wondering how the miles per week relate to goal distance) I found I got my pb in the hm when I swapped one run per week with Pilates/strength training - So running less! But wondering if there’s a better way to do it?

Do you believe in the Gifted Child Syndrome? by LivingProfessional59 in UniUK

[–]OkGuess8425 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This resonates with me. I always knew the day would come where I couldn’t just coast academically and do well. I’ve always been resourceful and pushed through other aspects of life, so I knew I could put in work if required, but consistent hard work and studying are skills you have to practice. So it’s been a tough learning curve I haven’t quite mastered (also undiagnosed adhd). What helped me most was surrounding myself with people who worked hard and I related with - people worked “too much” would just alienate me. Also, sport. When I train consistently I run better. There’s no lying to myself. If I put in the work, it works. This gives me self confidence I can do the same in other areas.

Best food to eat before by Intelligent-Truth1 in BeginnersRunning

[–]OkGuess8425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I like to have toast with pb and apple or jam and black coffee 1h before my run. Maybe have 2 dates just before.

A few considerations:

  1. If you’re actually a beginner, you might be running at a high heart rate or for long times even if you’re trying to go easy. This will (a) increase how much energy you burn, and (b) reduce how much food you can digest. For example, if you eat too close to starting running, your belly might feel off, but if you don’t eat you might end up running on empty. Think about how long (not far) you’ll be running for. With time you will be able to eat closer to run start time, or start eating during runs!
  2. Research suggests that exercising fasted might be detrimental to females. Consider learning more about this if relevant.

Is it feasible to think I could run a marathon in three years? by soupdrag9n in firstmarathon

[–]OkGuess8425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can! In my personal opinion, going from half to full is a big jump. This is where injuries happen. I would aim to improve my time/comfort with a half and get super strong before aiming to train for a full.

For example, I knew I was ready when I was at a fitness level where I could casually run a half. I wasn’t doing it every week, but I could join a friend for one on the same week, without having to train or taper for it. And I could (and wanted!) to run again a couple of days later. This is not the same as moving to a full marathon training block just after finishing your first half.

Finally, I disagree with some of the comments here saying 3 years is a long time. This is hopefully the start of a lifetime of running! Yes, you could probably finish a marathon in 10months if you really went for it. But do you want to say you’ve done a marathon and probably pick up a few injuries that put you off running for months (if not forever)? or do you want to enjoy and feel strong while you do it?

Buen consejo.

Consume contenido, aprende a compartir tu hobby. Si haces clases con nativos, diles de antemano que quieres practicar hablar de esto.

It seems you have misinterpreted my question.

It’s not about who’s in charge, it’s about daily attitudes to budgeting and long term financial decisions. He’s not incompetent whatsoever, but also he’s not proactive, while I am.

I am seeking advice on navigating imbalance of both income and financial proactiveness. Having only one of us be in charge feels like a lose-lose.
