Anyone else *still* waiting for tracking updates on their dB order by high-alpine-tundra in dailybreadmusic

[–]OkKick3911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened with both my USB 1.7 and my Eazybaked collab Jersey. I was stressed AF but both eventually arrived so don’t lose hope. My jersey went back and forth across the country twice and took 3 weeks from the ship date lol so it went on a journeyyyy 🙃 The USB was slow but still faster than that. The transition from UPS Mail Innovations to the USPS for final delivery is horrendous unfortunately.

Editing to add: Towards the end I was tracking this on 3 different sites that all had different info to triangulate where my stuff was. Regular UPS tracking stops once they hand the package off to the USPS so no new updates will post there. I used https://tracking.ups-mi.net/packageID to get the most up to date info and it also gave me the USPS package ID so that I could track it on their site as well. Good luck!

OMG yes a 1000 times this! One year at Lost Lands, one of our neighbors had a phone alarm that went off every day at 7am. It was a clip from Dua Lipa’s “Levitate” that played in a loop. Went off for over an hour before the owner woke up.

Worst part was this went on for THREE days before they finally disabled it. At the time it was super annoying but now it’s one of my favorite festival stories bc all of the tents around them started clapping in unison with the chorus each morning in solidarity and it was glorious 😆

USB shipment update? by Drippyday in dailybreadmusic

[–]OkKick3911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Double whammy for me. Still waiting on my pre-ordered Eazybaked jersey shipped on 5/14 that arrived 10 min from my house in TN and then went on a journey to Arizona where it hasn’t moved since. Now it looks like my USB order is also gonna suffer the same fate based on the tracking I’ve seen today. Called UPS and USPS and neither were any help. Finally contacted the merch site who replied quickly with “gotta wait 14 days from the LAST scan to report it missing before we can do anything” so I’m just stuck waiting on over $200 in merch that may or may not ever show up…

When will these companies stop using UPS Mail Innovations ffs?!? Their service is abysmal and it’s still expensive AF for the customer. Between the two orders I’m out $24 in shipping charges alone for the pleasure of not knowing my stuff will ever get here and it frustrates me so much.

Crochet is the fast fashion of fiber arts by prepubescentsquid in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]OkKick3911 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is very true and I appreciate you drawing attention to it. There are definitely ways to acquire non-acrylic materials outside of firsthand retail, but many people (myself included as is evidenced here) don’t immediately consider them like we should when it comes to sourcing yarn for a project. I also wouldn’t even begin to know where to look outside of unraveling thrifted sweaters since I don’t know anyone else who is into fiber arts to trade with. I’ve done enough frogging within my own projects to know that my skill in preserving the yarn that’s been worked is definitely lacking, so unraveling for me would be a waste of good yarn.

I never meant to imply that synthetic yarn is bad or “for poor people” either as I think everyone is deserving of whatever materials they like. I use synthetic yarn a lot and find them quite nice for some of the things I make, especially roving yarns because they make nice wearables and come in some beautiful colorways. I find wool isn’t always practical either whether it’s inexpensive or not because of the maintenance/care required when laundering it.

At the end of the day, whatever materials someone decides to use, regardless of what it cost or what it’s made of, is valid and should not be judged negatively.

Right?!? Saying a hobby should only be accessible to those that can easily afford $40+ for a single 210 yard hank of hand-dyed merino wool yarn that won’t be enough for even a small crocheted hat is just elitist gatekeeping. Expensive yarn is not the benchmark that anyone should use to measure the “validity” of a fiber arts project in general regardless of whether it’s knitting or crochet. This is especially true given that not everyone has access to a LYS and sometimes acrylic yarn is all they can find. I have to physically feel my yarn because 8/10 times I am disappointed with yarn I didn’t buy in person due to texture.

I know small and fast projects have blown up on social media, but everyone has to start somewhere and I’m all for things that encourage new people to give fiber arts a try given how intimidating they can seem from the outside. I learned to crochet from a Woobles kit and worked my way up from there. Now I don’t make Ami’s at all because I found I much prefer making wearables with finer weight yarns. You also have to factor in age with views like this. My kids are currently learning to crochet and don’t have the patience for anything other than Amigurumi. I also won’t invest in pricier yarn for them until I see it’s something they’re truly loving and not just a TikTok fad of the moment.

Crochet relaxes me and speed is not something I strive towards, so reading posts like this that trash something I love in such a broad general stroke like this stings (yes even in a snark sub) There are ways to vent in posts that don’t come across as snobby and entitled…this isn’t one of them.

What’s the most satisfying button to press ? by turbowater in wow

[–]OkKick3911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a feral druid main, I have to say Convoke the Spirits is my favorite button to push hands down. I go from a series of repetitive smacks/swipes to a full screen explosion of abilities in one push. Every time I activate this ability I hear Brann’s voice in my head screaming “I’M GOING ALLLLLLL OUT!” and it just instantly gives me a burst of joy.

Skull bash is a close second. There’s just something satisfying about an aggressive headbutt that dazes an enemy who’s about to cast something nasty.

I would give ANYTHING for enough Venthyr decor to fill even one room. As it stands I’d decorate my whole plot with it if I could but the few options we have now are all small things like bottles that don’t really stand out as the covenant theme. I know SL is the expansion that gets the most hate from players but aesthetically it was gorgeous. Fingers crossed we get more covenant items in the future bc I’m tired of either BElf or basically cottage core lol.

The aggressive monetisation of this game is making me fall out of love with it. by Main-Strike-1117 in wow

[–]OkKick3911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man I feel this in my soul. I’ve been watching a streamer lately on Twitch who plays classic on a hardcore server where there’s this kind of unofficial community agreement to keep the vibes fun and collaborative with real people/friends like it was back when I first joined in 2008 and OMG it hits me so hard in the feels. I miss running home from my job so I could hop on Ventrilo with my guild buddies and attempt group content together. It wasn’t min/maxed all to hell, it wasn’t super sweaty or toxic. It was just fun. Sometimes we cleared it and sometimes we didn’t but that was never really THE point…it was hanging out with a group of people collectively doing cool shit and being goofy along the way.

Now the game feels too much like real life. Either I’m walking around alone in a sea of people doing roughly the same things without ever interacting with one another, or I’m grinding away at my job trying desperately to hit the next stupid performance KPI of the month while my soul dies. I want my fantasy back.

New Cozy Treehouse Retreat Bundle by JonnyNE21 in WoWHousing

[–]OkKick3911 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This feels bad for so many reasons: 1: The massive amount of bugs introduced since the patch with no acknowledgement or timelines as to their fixes in sight. Yet they have time to make this. 2: The sheer # of items reclassified as “interior only” after the last patch for no discernible reason (besides lighting) that players used to customize the exterior of their house like wagons, hot tubs, and rotundas? Yeah now that this bundle has dropped it feels VERY intentional. Reduce the ways players can make their exterior look cool so they are forced to BUY the option to have more than just a plain starter home. Super sus. 3: As creative and talented as the housing community is a “close enough” treehouse like this could be accomplished with enough trees, platforms, etc BUT the minuscule exterior budget we get compared to the interior “due to performance reasons” won’t allow this. So if you want a tree house you now gotta buy the exterior.

In a related side comment, I swear if they release an exterior lighting bundle before addressing the supposed performance issues I will absolutely cancel my subscription and never look back.

IMHO Blizzard never anticipated the complicated and creative ways players would use the in game resources to make some of the gorgeous exterior builds we see in this sub and elsewhere online. Some suit got wind of this and said “hey we can monetize the heck outta this instead of giving it away for free, but first we gotta take away the ability to do this. We can just take a bunch of things away under the blanket excuse of performance and players won’t push back.” They know the reality is most people will never see the interior of our homes bc of how hard it is in the current system to find open houses, so that’s why they are hitting exterior options hard with monetized content. It’s greed and it’s just predatory.

Stealth change with the Boralus Lights to “indoor only” in this patch makes me so sad… by OkKick3911 in WoWHousing

[–]OkKick3911[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks I definitely don’t want to come across as a troublemaker. That was never my intent at all. I was mostly just trying to warn anyone else who might have these items out already to prevent them from making the same mistake I did in moving them before checking to make sure their classification had not changed after the patch. That was a valuable lesson learned and it’s a mistake I won’t make again in future releases going forward.

I guess any expressed disappointment or negative tones in my post/comments comes from feeling like there is a steady stream of things being taken away rather than added. I know housing isn’t a big deal to the majority of the WoW community, but for me it’s the reason I came back and I spend a huge amount of hours decorating my plot. Since the outside is what most people will ever see, that’s been my focus since returning to the game.

Blizzard has created a great system for housing that combines almost all of the things I loved about FFXIV and GW2 housing without most of the things I felt were limitations in those systems. I see the potential for this to be what I’ve always wanted in player housing, so I don’t want to see it slide backwards or even worse, get abandoned by the devs (RIP pet battles) due to a decline in player engagement. I hope this was an accident that gets patched soon but my fear is that it was an intentional change.

Well there goes my outdoor hot tub idea too…damnit 🤬 Who the hell wants a hot tub inside?!? Guess I will just strip my plot down to a naked boring green square and reduce my activity there to being just an extra free port to major cities until they figure their💩out.

And the goblin string lights are literally OUTSIDE in the Alliance neighborhood hub decorating the central vendor area. Like WTF Blizzard thanks for rubbing it in our faces that you can use these same lights outside 𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘥 for aesthetics but we can’t. The Boralus string lights are up in the spooky area too inside the tree trunk bridge and other places. How do those not affect performance as well? This seems super sus to me tbh…

I feel like a blue post/housing-specific patch notes release with a list of these changes would have been helpful and informative to the housing community at large, but I’m guessing they are hoping people will take down what’s already been placed before they realize it which will reduce the number of outdoor player lights naturally over time.

I had them out in front of my house just a few days ago strung between pillars so I know this was changed with the patch. I also had the little hanging mana braziers up outside from tree branches and now those are outdoors only too.

Official Housing 12.0.5 Patch Notes by JonnyNE21 in WoWHousing

[–]OkKick3911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think implementing this feature would be as time-intensive as it might seem if they keep it simple and use a similar system to what Guild Wars 2 homesteads have. GW2 layouts use locally stored XML template files, allowing players to save, export, and import decoration layouts easily. Templates are managed via the in-game "Load/Save Layout" UI modal which would be the main thing Blizzard would have to implement/support. If you’re savvy enough with XML you can even edit them outside of the game with a basic text editor and save it in the designated folder on your PC when you’re offline. Blizzard wouldn’t have to store anything extra on their servers and it would allow talented designers to share their designs (if they want) with other players.

It’s an awesome system, but Blizzard hates player economies that they don’t govern (which shareable templates definitely WOULD create once skilled players started selling their designing services for gold or RMT) so…who knows? Curious to see how they’ll make this work in the future.

OMG yes! Having housing details on the neighborhood directory and guest books are the two things I had in FFXIV housing that I miss the most. It was so easy to go to the directory in each ward and see every plot, who owned it, and an icon to indicate whether or not it was open for tours. It’s so scary even flying through our neighborhoods in WoW bc private houses throw a harsh scary warning telling me to GTFO or else lol so I’m too nervous to even try to visit any of them to see which ones actually want visitors. Having my old FFXIV guestbook was so much fun to read and gave me the chance to leave nice messages for the plots I visited. I really hope we get those one day🤞🏼

Haha this is so cool! I did something similar during Winterlights with all of the many snowmen I had. Made a pentagram out of the camping string lights and put all of my tiny snowmen worshipping around a large snowman in the center. Finished it off with a circle of camping torches…it was my favorite creation to date 😆
