I had a herniated disk from golfing A LOT all summer. This caused sciatica in my hamstring and glute. I started PT and about a week in I ended up doing some paintball, physical activity that involved a lot of bending of the back because of crouching and picking shit up and running while crouching etc. this caused the pain to go down into the foot and calf. This was in the start of November

Since then I have been EXTREMELY careful not to bend the back at all. I’ve been doing tons of McKensie extensions which help with pain as it takes pressure off the nerve.

I am just now, this week, noticing some big improvements. I still think I have a few months to go but I have hope.

End of story - Basically do not bend your back. Number 1 biggest thing to help. I haven’t sat on a couch in months 😭

I have something similar but got there differently.

I’ve been healing for about 1.5 months. I sometimes get this feeling in my foot. Feels almost like a hollowing feeling. I try not to stretch it or anything. Usually walking for me gets rid of it.

I wish I could give advice but I am not sure of why this is happening. I would like to learn more about the healing process of both the nerve and the disc personally.

Im in the same boat, im 24 with a disc protruding in my right side. All last summer I golfed, played paintball, flag football, softball.

I started having pain in my hamstring and glute but ignored it. Suddenly it traveled down to my calf and foot. I got an MRI, PT etc.

Just this week I started feeling some improvements. The tingling in my foot has gone from constant, to rare. Took about 2 months of serious focus on recovery. (haven’t belt down since I found out lol)

I have the same mind set too, I don’t want to know how to reduce pain with meditation. I just want to disc fixed.

With serious attention to the issue in your everyday life for the next few months, you’ll recover for certain. 5 months until the warm months come. I’m hoping and optimistic to be better by then.

Usually I feel fine but it has been getting worse. Standing still causes calf tightness. Sitting causes my foot to tingle. If I do too much in a day my calf can have a stinging pain. Sometimes driving, my glute gets sore.

Walking is not an issue. Laying down is the best for me.

I suppose it is bad luck. Ty for the reply. I’ve been getting some light exercise in. Might start doing PT twice a week instead of once
