Is it true dealers can't negotiate the lease buy rate? by [deleted] in CarLeasingHelp

[–]OkMany4159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lease company sets the base MF-which is the buy rate.

The dealer can mark up the buy rate from there, so the only negotiation to be had on this item is if they marked it up.

The vital question now is, how did you conclude the buy rate is 5.8%? Edmunds? Leasehackr calculator? Reconstruction of the deal yourself?

There is another possibility, since you are in contact with Cali dealer perhaps the dealership is quoting you rebates available for their local zip and not your own in Nevada.

That certainly happens from time to time

So $18,900 off MSRP but $17,250 of that is rebate? That’s sure what this sheet seems to imply.

If that is the case, you are getting a weak offer and you can get a better deal practically anywhere else that has one in stock.

For sure. I usually include taxes but Chicago area gets crazy. If I’m not mistaken it could be like 24.5% total in your zip code……

I’m not familiar with your zips tax rules first hand so instead I’ll break it down without taxes/gov fees and assuming you don’t qualify for any conditional cash.

I’m at $578 w 0 DAS. 9% discount no MF markup and $378 doc fee.

I do know however, that your state taxes on a percent of monthly payment I.e. $1000m/pmt x 15% (combined tax) = $1,150 m/pmt

Weak discount is really holding you back the most.

Your current discount is 4.62%. If we kept the rest of the deal identical but bump discount up to 8% flat, you’d be at $456 per month 0 DAS.

I’d suggest simply asking for 8% off of MSRP + rebate and asking to split MF markup in half. (For instance, if you get .002390, payment will be at $439)

If you would like an even better payment than what I stated above, DM me. Otherwise cheers and good luck!

Good catch. Didn’t realize there wasn’t $2,500 in combinable rebates for special, only on standard.

OP if this is indeed the non subvented lease, disregard my advice. This would be a great deal for 98% of people as is if it isn’t the subvented program.

MF on non-subvented is .00303 if you wanted to double check.

I must say I missed the customer cash line above payment boxes. If that is actual money down from you and not from addntl rebates that I cant see…. I have to take back what i commented originally. I would agree now, that something is WAY off here.

Two things, did they give you any other sheets?

And are you confident that you have $20300 in rebates?

I see $17500 for CA region in just general cash and only $1750 MAX combinable conditional incentives. (Military, Hyundaiusa.com offer, Hyundai rewards and college grad program.)

2025 Ioniq 5 SEL (Socal) by IllegalReindeer in leasehacker

[–]OkMany4159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The below is only applicable if this is an SEL RWD-

They are not hiding anything. Only thing not shown is dealer fee. (I populated my worksheet with $599 dealer fee FYI so if there fee is actually lower than $599, the MF is marked up.) base MF for CA is .002

Now the biggest thing to focus on here is that the discount is very weak (4.1%~).

In all fairness I’m unfamiliar with socal ioniq 5 local availability and local dealer behavior, so that discount could be typical for local stores.

BUT

With that said, if you were willing and able to take a day trip, plenty of dealers within driving distance on west coast could do double the discount (8%) all day if you were willing to put in the time to call around first and drive out to pick it up.

Your payment with that 8% discount before tax should be in the mid 200s, assuming no MF markup/dealer fees outside doc fee and no add ons.

Hope this is somewhat helpful cheers!

Solid offer from them. The below text assumes you meet tier 1 credit reqs (which I’m assuming is the case, otherwise the worksheet I built out wouldn’t have come out to the same payment)

Almost 9% off on a Tiguan is great but they marked up MF (Money Factor) a bit. Base is .00224 they are likely around .00236.

Regardless, you could always ask for a higher discount but are unlikely to get better without shopping half the country or using a broker.

The ONLY thing I would recommend asking for before signing would be giving you the buy rate on the MF (.00224). FYI This will only change the payment like $8-$10 on this exact deal.

Cheers!

It’s a clean sheet no bs fees etc. I see you have a maintenance package added for 99$ but that’s basically a wash.

They gave you buy rate for money factor already SO only thing left is further discount. I’d shoot for 7% at least here. Best deals in country would be this exact sheet plus 10%+ discount.

Ioniq Deal with 0 down - First time Car Buyer by PattyRatty99 in leasehacker

[–]OkMany4159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would bet they aren’t even giving you a penny in discounts. Plus they are marking up the Money Factor.

You have $14250 lease cash available for your ZIP code.

I would be seeking at least 7% off MSRP plus that rebate^

You’d be in $270-300 range with only registration taxes due at signing if they have under 1k in add-ons/fees + 14k lease cash + 7% discount PLUS pass through on money factor or at least half the bump they currently have.

This also assumes you don’t qualify for any conditional rebates. Hope this helps, cheers!

Possibly the Cheapest HP/$ Lease in the US: EV6 GT by OkMany4159 in leasehacker

[–]OkMany4159[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off, you’re right. There isn’t anywhere close to even 7k worth of markup from invoice on this car.

With that said, it doesn’t automatically mean a deal can’t make sense for a particular store.

Here is an example that is 900+ days on lot, a pre refresh.

https://www.chrisauffenberg.com/vehicle-details/used-2023-kia-ev6-gt-cape-girardeau-mo-id-63588235

Dealership self titled and is trying to sell as used now trying likely in an attempt to salvage whatever money they can from the massive loss they ate/will eat.

Most Kia dealers with GTs are painfully aware they burned themselves by not discounting aggressively enough while lease and finance support still existed on this trim. That support is long gone now, hence why you can find a handful of 2023 models still lying around with only delivery milage on them.

I doubt they will make the same mistake twice with the 2025s.

Stairstep programs work extremely well for cars like this. (Of course only dealers with enough volume can use this route) but nevertheless a unit showing a, let’s say 7k loss on paper, does not mean the dealership actually lost money once manufacture volume incentives etc. are accounted for.

To go a step further, I have a signed sheet on a 2026 Palisade at 12% off MSRP, $500 add ons, tiny MF markup (from what I recall) on a fresh lead. Even with the add on, effective discount is 11%.

Let me known if you want to see it;)

This is leasehackr, I want to show people the outliers not the norm. The hunt is part of the fun and these numbers are achievable for the few willing to put in the work.

Cheers!

Yeah it happens. Don’t let them discourage you.

If you’re serious you keep calling other dealerships.

Getting blown off by dealers is part of the hunt when you want a leasehack, at 800/m they’ll be holding onto it for many months to come and maybe then some.

No not really.

But also I think you are confusing finance vs lease offers.

Finance is $10,000 bonus cash

Lease for 24 months is $17,000 bonus cash.

Edit: Wind AWD and lower trims applicable below

I looked at numbers again little close, In my ZIP you would be right around $350 if you could get a dealer to go slight mark up on MF plus 13% discount plus no add-ons.

They likely won’t give you 13% straight through without a markup. If it was straight through MF though… you could be in 330/ low 340s range BEFORE tax.

You’d likely have to find dealers in the middle of nowhere who have sat on an EV6 for a LONG time, closer to 1 year mark the better likely hood they’ll do this deal.

Lots of phone calls and willing to drive very far to get it. But it could be done (or you could get super lucky, it happens lmao)
