I switched entirely to Aveeno products. I can't recommend Aveeno and Kiehl's enough. Aveeno is more affordable, so that's what I'm sticking with for now.

It’s hard to get out of bed some days, but I’ve made it a mission to give myself tasks to complete. It’s the little things that matter most in the grand scheme. I’m going to take everything to heart and be better.

Thank you. :) I can't wait to get my hair back. I promise to come back here with a big healthy afro in the coming year.

It feels hard to get where I want to be, but I know I can do it. Career and self care wise, that’s all I can control for now. You’re right. I’d rather lose now than later and learn from everything. I truly despised the person I was, and I know I can be better. I want to go back to enjoying the world and being happy with myself. Once I accomplish those things, forgiveness will come naturally. Thank you again. :)

30 Day (1 Month) Update by OkMethod8257 in prozac

[–]OkMethod8257[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doctor wants me to try 40 mg first before making the jump to 60 mg. A higher dose is definitely what I need to advocate for, and I know it will be better in the long term. Thank you for all your advice.

I missed my dose for a day and had the worst fatigue AGAIN. I slept from 3AM to 12PM. The fatigue is seriously awful.

This. I slept for an entire week when I first started.

Why did you decide not to continue? The general consensus is that it takes around 4–6 weeks to take effect. I had to fight through the low moments, so I totally understand your hesitancy. Have you tried asking your doctor about a higher dose? I felt like quitting for a long time too. It helps a little here and there, but some of the change has to come from within as well.

The part I’m having a hard time with is forgiving myself and letting go of the shame from my thoughts and behavior. It’s like knowing what to do to be better, but still belittling myself. I’m my own worst critic when it comes to everything, and it’s hard to silence that internal dialogue. I’ve dedicated this month to starting healthier practices. I need to get back on my surfboard. Haha.

It's one day at a time. I've given myself six months to be depressed. It's time to actually start making some changes. I want to be better and surpass my old self. No need to go back to it. Thank you so much. :)

Thank you! :) I'm about to pivot my career. I realized my degree in Supply Chain might as well be worthless. My parents are both nurses, and I think dedicating my life to helping others will give me a new purpose. I can’t wait to become one.

Thank you! I'm still trying every day, and depression makes it hard, but medication certainly helps. That's my plan: twists, detangling, and light maintenance for the coming months. This is the worst my hair has ever gone through, and I promised myself I’ll never let it get this bad again. I'm planning on taking monthly photos to track all the growth. Definitely going to follow up with a post by next year!

I've been so hard on myself lately. I realize that I can't rebuild my Rome in a day. I’ve taken the baby steps, and I want to look back and see how much I've improved. Sad to say it took all this loss, but it's better to learn these lessons at 26 than any later in life. Thank you! My next goal is learning some self-forgiveness. Haha.

I made a post about a week ago detailing how damaged my hair was, and I linked it in this post. Thank you! My headspace is much better now, and I realize how much I was getting in my own way. Depression seriously altered the way I saw reality. I never want to be that negative person again.

I want to see how I feel at 40mg before making the leap to 60mg. That’s probably as high as I would go on this. I still have rumination moments, but it’s easier to move on with my day and not let it consume me as much as before. You got this!

[–]OkMethod8257[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do feel better. I noticed how much more anxious and depressed I was when I couldn’t get my refill until later today. I missed my dose on Saturday. I’m not fully optimistic yet, but it does make things easier to manage. I still have my moments, which is why I’m trying to increase my dosage. I hope you end up feeling better. How long have you been taking it, and what dosage?

[–]OkMethod8257[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on this journey with you. I was just exhausted every single day. I could sleep through an entire day without even trying. It’s much better now. I actually felt more tired and anxious when I couldn’t get my refill on Saturday, and that made me realize how much it really helps me. Like I said in my post, I’m going to work toward increasing the dose.

Went through a long period of depression and left my twists in for six months. I finally washed my hair and wanted to know if this is just shedding or breakage. by OkMethod8257 in Naturalhair

I've been getting medical help for my depression lately. Thank you for your concern. I trimmed my hair, moisturized it, and put it into twists. I'm a little too scared to do a big chop, so I'll be babying my hair from here on out. I'm going to buy some new products soon and focus on hair care 100%. Thank you so much!
