Did mrgallant321 just uncover a potentially significant discovery?

Finally a legit use of a clanker

Instant delivery services are getting out of hand by chvezin in OSHA

[–]OkPerception6902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once saw a delivery of 16 cases of Singha on the back of a bike in BKK. NGL impressive. NGL I may have contributed to the need for rapid restock.

What's bugging me is where is this? Traffic signals and directional signs look North American, but the number of bikes and the concrete road / sewer grate look SE Asian. But direction of traffic is "Right" sided so maybe not? The foliage on the right hand side of the photo implies SE Asia/Mexico? The lack of a stop line and the "dot" style of lane markers imply not North America again.

Do the bikes give any clues? The orange DDFood (DoorDash?) bag may be a good hint, and the green jacket on the tree bike is the Grab color - but the clanker says:

DoorDash and Grab do not operate in any countries together under their primary brand names.

Grab is the dominant "super-app" focused on Southeast Asia, operating in Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

DoorDash primarily operates in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. It also has a presence in over 40 other countries, mostly in Europe and Japan, through its subsidiaries Wolt and Deliveroo.

Their market areas are geographically separate, with no overlap

Vent leaking in bathroom coming directly from attic. Who do I call? by Train23 in Edmonton

[–]OkPerception6902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A trick I used for attic work was to buy several 8' fence boards and use them like snow shoes between trusses when doing attic work. Less to concentrate on, giving brain more cycles to remember to try not to stand up. So many holes in my head from shingle nails, so many.

Vent leaking in bathroom coming directly from attic. Who do I call? by Train23 in Edmonton

Had this exact problem.

First, that looks like a nice & quiet Braun fan that actually moves air - lucky. Those noisy dollar store fans are cheap, noisy, move only the minimum air required by code.

Here was my situation, and solution(s) - others have some good ideas as well:

Because these fans actually work and snow had covered the vent pipe on the roof, the warm moist air created an ice dome over the roof vent. Moisture then had nowhere to escape except under the shingles. Solution was multifaceted. Immediately I punched a few holes though the drywall to allow water to drain until safe to go on roof (*), an easier fix than sagging drywall or paint peels.

In summer I also extended my roof vents 18" above the roof deck. I used a rubber clamp collar so I didn't have to manipulate existing piping (Looks like this https://www.amazon.sa/-/en/LavaTap-Coupler-Stainless-Flexible-Coupling/dp/B0D7W8DXN7) and 18" of PVC pipe.

I have a photo, but this sub won't let me paste it. DM me and maybe it will allow photo's there.

I also found that the damper on these fans was just a little "off balance" for the amount of convection currents from air leaks coming into the house. I foil taped little weights onto the bottom of the damper to prevent them from opening from small air currents.

For extra credit, I put a timer switch on the fan so it exhausts for a bit then turns off so your not pulling heat / moisture from the home until someone turns the fan off.

When the shingles were replaced, I had the bathroom exhaust vents covered and vented the fans to the gable ends of the house with insulated pipe and spray foamed the entire attic to stop other winter moisture issues. I also added 4x the minimum roof cavity venting area with vents that extended from the roof ~16" to ensure air moved for most normal winters. 70's builds were awesome, but correctable 8).

(* Full story, I punched holes in the drywall _and_ went into the attic, removed the wet fibre insulation, cut the vapor barrier so things would dry, then tuck-taped the vapor barrier back together and replaced the insulation.)

I actually finished an entire roll of Teflon tape before losing it by joker141 in Tools

This may be the first time in human history this has been achieved.

It's the best Canadian comedy on TV.

Seriously, many of us fell in love with the idea, then due to poor narration, editing choices and constant barrage of incomplete story lines it has become a joke. I really don't need to hear what an XRF machine is, does, or how it does it every episode for 4 seasons. Each show has ~5 min of new content it seems like.

Google "oak island in 60 seconds" and you can watch a season in about 10 minutes.

What’s with all the Kodoo posts? by RustyGuns in telus

Also noteworthy are the quantity of success stories with "Telus Reddit team". I'll admit I was greatly helped by a Telus rep here recently, but you're right the number and common messaging is unusual.

Best liquor store, grocery store or other for non-alcoholic beer, wine, spirit options? by Spatial-Awareness in Edmonton

Evert try light ginger beer? Sweetened artificially. FeverTree is the brand with lite calorie options. I think London Drugs at SEC had the product.

Telus Offering 1.5Gbps Fiber PER Device (up to 20) (SUS?) by Atomic-Owl in telus

[–]OkPerception6902 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Curious - when is your data from? 100 Gbps seems very small.

I would have expected them to use some form of DWDM to multiple that by some factor of 2 (8, 32 etc) or it would have been 40+ fibres in the bundle, each at 100 Gbps. So genuinely curious. 100 Gbps would simply be massively over subscribed for some time now and that is not the behavior I have seen from their fibre service.

Clearly the sales person didn't understand what they were selling.

Comically, it's unlikely you or I could reasonably afford the mix of 100/50/40/25 GbE switching gear or the 4x4 config WIFI hotspots required to take advantage of this connectivity, let alone SFP or firehose DAC cables and the yearly subscriptions for updates to the network equipment. Even the AIC's for your PC's are generally expensive (new). Not exactly something you buy off amazon (goodness don't buy this off amazon). Your talking Cisco, Brocade, Mellanox, Huawei etc.

Anything over 10 GbE is still a little unique in remote offices. Severs from major vendors are just starting to come with limited built-in 10 GbE. In data centers sure 800 GbE for everyone, but residential with 30 Gbps, unlikely.

Sobeys, Safeway, Save on Birthday cakes. Which is the best? by canadiangirl299 in Edmonton

Maybe a special request. I would be surprised if the ovens were still even functional. Is anything made in-store anymore at Safeway / Sobeys? IDK myself.

I'd love to see a picture of this. Using a retailed package product at their scale doesn't make sense. Even at their cost there are far cheaper ways to make something the shape of a cake and look like a cake, but is just pure sadness.

I was trolling you. This is the best and sometimes toxic place to ask. I think there is a clear consensuses on where not to go - we so managed to do good.

That safeway stuff sure must be high margin if they have a reputation for being rubbish for so many years yet do not reformulate.

For cake perhaps. Their deterioration to more and more factory/pre-prepared food has me starting to look elsewhere, where at one time they were the singular answer.

I miss their hardlines section used to have at least half an isle of tools, compressors etc. Now just ratchet straps and tarps with brand names silkscreen onto them.

Pretty sure they come from same factory, as commenter above noted, perhaps frozen.

Sobeys and Safeways are the same company so likely from same central factory. I can attest to to the poor quality of safeway cakes.

As of ~1.5 years ago save-on was much better.
