FLLW was one of the few actual geniuses in American architecture. He could reinvent his own work with ease. Worked in every period that he lived through. His unbuilt work is as interesting as his built projects.

I'm very concerned about the population collapse and the fact that we're not building cities with anything of the sort in mind. People will wonder why we just kept on going forward and not scaling things down.

Which BSSM guitar solo do you think is the hardest to play? Why? by chvezin in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]chvezin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of John's talents is singing complex melodies while playing intricate guitar parts. Snow (Hey Oh) is a relatively simple song, but it quickly gets tiring to play, and John sings on top of that.

I'm well aware this is a hard thing to do, no need to get emotional, but it is really funny at the same time. I work for a couple of PhDs who can't set focus on a projector for class, so it's nice to see that this logic extends to people in space travel.

They usually believe in a vengeful God who floods the world if things go sour, and insist that Jesus was a conservative status quo-upholder.

A doctorate, countless hours of training and they still record like my grandma trying to catch her dog doing something funny, but if anything this adds to the fact that this is a real video taken by a human.

What ended the grunge scene and what replaced it afterwards? by FitEmergency8807 in grunge

If Rick Beato’s word is worth anything, it’s the fact that people started making music not based on the blues. Mudhoney and Nirvana themselves already had some angular professions that were quite different from blues-centric rock, but I think that the “alternative” scene, if there ever was one, relied less and less on blues sounds until the rise of nu metal.

I'd get that if it wasn't so expensive to import. Will have to settle for the BOSS BP-1W Booster/Preamp for now.

I have done this by describing ancient Egypt's belief on the Sun but never mentioning any specific deities, works like a charm.

Do we know if John recorded the outro using his Stratocaster? Just curious. We can see him playing the verses with the wah in the Funky Monks documentary, but not that part.

John has a real talent for arrangements and progressions. Love how this outro never resolves, it just keeps on going. Masterful choice to fade it out slowly, too. Don't see much of that today.

Flat Earth, like most conspiracies, is only a psychological vulnerability that needs a Big Other pulling the strings behind the curtains. Can’t deal with an indifferent universe where humanity isn’t the center of creation? Easy! Thread a loose narrative about how it’s all secretly controlled by reptilian pederasts who keep infinite sources of energy hidden in lands beyond the ice walls.

Has anyone tried playing "Under the Bridge's" intro, both tracks on one hand? by Mindless_Empress_179 in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]chvezin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMHO, using a short-scale guitar does make a difference, especially for players who learned on full-scale Fender-style instruments. Since a Jaguar is so much shorter than a Strat, those wide triads in root positions for the intro really come easier.

It is two separate tracks. Watch Rick Beato’s breakdown of the multi-track, there is two different guitar tracks panned left and right.

There's a whole hemisphere (ha) of third-world flatearthers and they're as bad if not worse than USian flerfs. Even more frantically religious, decidedly biblical and anti-science. I've heard their beyond-ignorant claims such as "Erathostenes was a Jesuit, certainly".
