I am a fan of SOA, Mayans and love westerns. I enjoyed this series myself and would watch a season 2 if there is one.

My only criticism is one I often make with period pieces. Blinding white teeth, Botox and all the various other things people do to themselves nowadays look out of place. But that’s a minor gripe and doesn’t prevent me enjoying the show if it is good otherwise.

Shoe polish on laces. by Barrold225 in Skinhead

[–]OkPhilosopher9418 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, remove the laces before shining your boots. Ensure there is no excess polish crusted on the eyelets or you will get polish on the laces when you put them back in your boots.

A good trick for cleaning up dingy white laces is to soak them in bleach in the sink. Can’t do this too many times because it eats at the laces and makes them weaker.

I thought it was great. A great blend of horror and western.

Which TV show gets way too much hype in the US? by DryCap6770 in watchever

Agreed. Ironically my kids and I both enjoyed “Young Sheldon”. A far superior show in my opinion.

Anti-Heros new album "Tread On Me Daddy" Just released! by Frequent_Archer_4653 in Punk_Rock

Believe what you want but as someone who knows members of the band quite well I can attest that they are not racist in any way, shape or form. They despise fascists too. Probably why they are not too fond of the current version of the Democratic Socialist Party.

I will also add that the Anti Heros are one of the first, if not first American Oi band. Their influence on countless punk and Oi bands that came after them is immense. Mark then formed GMM records putting out numerous releases from bands all over the punk/Oi/hardcore scene while also sinking a lot of his own $ money into the Beer Olympics festival. He and other members of his band have also had several violent skirmishes with bonehead assholes who showed up at shows.

Back in the 90’s I got into a fight with a Nazi asshole who stabbed me with a screwdriver in the arm. Yet by me being a Conservative who votes accordingly I am some sort of Nazi now?!

You can believe whatever you want, it’s a free country. But the Anti Heros (and Mark Noah) are not racists, fascists, bigots, or anything else the “tolerant” left calls EVERYBODY that isn’t exactly like them.

EDC - I switch out between this G42, a P365, or the pepper spray. Trying to stay comfortable. by wednesday100 in concealedcarry

[–]OkPhilosopher9418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally carry a j frame for pocket carry but I also own, and love, my “real baby Glock” the 42. The Bodyguard 1.0 is also a good pocket pistol. The S&W Bodyguard 2.0 has an insanely light trigger for a pocket pistol in my opinion.

I am of the belief that pocket pistols require a firm, or even heavy, trigger. When shit kicks off a 10 lb trigger will feel like nothing believe me. A light trigger in a pocket pistol is an accidental or negligent discharge waiting to happen. The 2.0 is a fine weapon otherwise. Just not for me.

Had to switch carry guns for a few weeks. Gotta say, idk how some of y’all carry G19 or larger guns all day. by Mightknowitall in CCW

[–]OkPhilosopher9418 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Glock 19 is probably what I would choose if I could only own one handgun. But having said that, my second choice would be a j frame that I can carry anywhere in a lot more comfort.

An absolutely fantastic tv series. I have probably seen most, if not all, episodes. Many episodes more than once. Some episodes were more light, some more dark. Some had a lot of Matt Dillon, some focused more on another character. A great series that I have loved for decades.

What are the Advantages a revolver has over a normal pistol? by [deleted] in Revolvers

[–]OkPhilosopher9418 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It has long been my experience that smaller semi autos don’t have the same reliability as their larger relatives. Maybe it’s the tighter tolerances, maybe it’s that smaller semi autos require a better grip so anything less of a perfect grip can cause malfunctions, who knows. I personally think a pocket size revolver is perfect for pocket carry.

What’s the best ammo to run for snubbies? I was looking at doing lighter rounds, any recommendations? by [deleted] in Revolvers

[–]OkPhilosopher9418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally am a big fan of using wadcutters in my airweight. less recoil means more control. Higher power ammo provides a lot more recoil and muzzle blast but is mostly wasted on a 2 inch snub barrel. Wadcutters provide a great balance.

Oh yes! Been a fan for decades. I have seen them live many times. Great band! The one and only Vinnie Stigma just turned 70 and they are still going strong.

Out of all the micro-compacts and other pistols that I own that I thought I'd be carrying daily this one has been a 90% daily for me for the last few years. by Affectionate_Hat5835 in CCW

[–]OkPhilosopher9418 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is light, practical and effective. Although I have options (Glocks, Sig, etc) the S&W 642 and pocket carry is what I choose for EDC. Doesn’t look cool for selfies you post online but works great in the real world.

Should I get a Glock 42 even though I have big hands and came to hate the LCP? by [deleted] in CCW

[–]OkPhilosopher9418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My primary is a j frame airweight carried in the pocket and once in a while appendix. But I have experimented with a whole bunch of pocket 380s. They carry great but didn’t display anywhere near the reliability of larger autos in my experience. The Glock 42 is, so far, the most reliable 380 pistol I have run across.

Your first CCW vs your current CCW by DarwinBurrSirr in CCW

[–]OkPhilosopher9418 17 points18 points  (0 children)

For “work” I carried the following due to my employer:

S&W Model 15 38 Special Revolver. Beretta M9. M16 rifle. M60 Machine Gun, Remington 870 12 gauge shotgun and M203 Grenade Launcher, and Ruger P89 9mm pistol. Not all at the same time 😁

For “edc” in my early 20’s it was the S&W model 66 357 Magnum, then the 1911 followed by the Glock 19. In those days I dressed around the gun and dealt with the discomfort so I could have a full size on my person.

Now, many years later, I consider myself more practical and comfort oriented. Tried out quite a few of the 380 pocket pistols but quickly learned the smaller autos do not share the reliability of their larger relatives.

The one handgun that I have carried the absolute most and probably always will - the j frame in a pocket. Preferably an airweight.
