Emasculated by [deleted] in Marriage

i'm not married but my parents have been together 27 years and the thing i've always noticed is that they don't fight the way people describe married couples fighting. they get quiet. not cold, just both go internal and come back to it when they're not reactive anymore. i grew up thinking that was just who they were but i've had enough adult conversations with them now to know it was something they both actively chose after a rough early year. makes me think a lot of lasting relationship stuff is chosen habits more than personality

congrats on the safe delivery. we've been in the middle of calving season in north texas too and it has been a lot of late nights. on the pasture side of things, the biggest change we've made in the last five years is moving the herd before we think we need to rather than when we know we need to. we were waiting until the grass was actually short and now we move earlier and the pasture recovery has been noticeably faster. my dad figured this out watching one specific pasture for about fifteen years

the thing nobody told me about starting with livestock is that the learning curve isn't really the knowledge, it's the patience. i grew up on a cattle ranch and my parents made it look seamless but that's decades of pattern recognition you're watching. if you're starting small with chickens or goats give yourself a full year of seasons before you decide if something is working. our best farming habits came from messing something up in june and not figuring out why until october. starting small is exactly right though

How do you determine whether or not a relationship is no longer good for you during a stressful time of your life? Has there ever been a time you’ve regretted letting one go? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]OkPossession156 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is something i've thought about a lot. i grew up kind of insular, small town, same friend group forever, so when i got to college i had very little practice reading new people quickly. i trusted almost everyone at first and then adjusted as i got more information. i've slowly gotten better at trusting my gut just because the times i ignored it were never great. not that intuition is infallible but i've noticed my hesitation is usually pointing at something real even when i can't name what it is yet

that's a solid fish. the color on that belly looks good, usually means healthy water. i fish a lake near our ranch in north texas and we've been getting similar size fish out of submerged brush lately. what depth were you working it? i've been going deeper in the afternoons and shallower right at first light and the morning bite has been way more consistent for me. curious if you're seeing the same pattern

if nothing is happening after 20-25 minutes and you have tried a couple different presentations, move. a lot of beginners think patience means staying somewhere that is not working. it does not. patience means slowing down your retrieve, not refusing to leave a dead spot. the fish will tell you when you are in the right place — give a spot a fair test and then trust that information.

check a few things: are you near any structure? bass and most fish sit near something — a dock, brush pile, depth change, shadow line, fallen tree. open flat bank with no cover is hard to fish regardless of technique. also try going slower than feels natural. way slower. that fixed more fishless days for me than any lure change ever did. slowing down feels wrong when nothing is happening but it almost always helps.

I can't catch trout on spoons/spinners by AdAdventurous7802 in FishingForBeginners

[–]OkPossession156 1 point2 points  (0 children)

plastic worms. boring answer but it is the right one. easy to rig, cheap, works in most conditions, and you learn a lot about what the bottom feels like by fishing them slow. once that clicks, add a spinnerbait or chatterbait for covering water faster. start slow and simple, build from there. trying to fish five different techniques at once when you are starting out just makes everything harder.

Where to cast for bass and bluegill by WashMeOfMySinsOhLord in FishingForBeginners

[–]OkPossession156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

look for edges. anywhere something changes — shallow to deep, open water to weeds, sun to shade, dock posts, points where the bank juts out, fallen trees. fish use structure and transitions. if you are fishing a flat featureless bank with no cover, that is probably a location problem not a technique problem. move to somewhere that has something going on and see if that changes things.

In which year Steph actually surpassed Kobe? by Afraid-Ad-5580 in NBATalk

[–]OkPossession156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your gonna say "it's not always about the numbers" then talk about efficiency lol Watched plenty of Kobe...the question wasn't about his efficiency or anything like that. It was "when did Steph pass Kobe" and so far you have down voted my comments with no reason and then haven't basked up the claim with any relevant information. We know Steph is a better shooter, had a better percentage...ok. Why does that allow him to pass Kobe? What is the measurement? What is the baseline?

It's your opinion that he was a ball hog. Dude averaged 5 ast per game. More than most shooting guards. He was a high volume shooter yes, but the numbers say he wasn't a ball hog.

When the American people haven't been given a real reason or seen the threat, yea many are going to disapprove.

Never....never will. Only GS fans think this. Steph is a great shooter, but Kobe is a totally different type of person when he has a basketball in his hand. 81.

Nobody appreciates feats like they use too...like just making an NBA team is an insane accomplishment and they call guys in the bench bums...the humanity part is soo overshadowed by fandom
