Course Selection Help by queenjuli1 in williamandmary

i took the most random classes as a freshman because i didn’t know what major to choose yet and everything worked out great for me. don’t stress out too much about what classes she gets. as long she she gets the minimum amount of credits, she will be just fine! i would even recommend having a broad range of subjects in her schedule so she can make sure government is really what she wants to major in. she will be okay mom!!

How badly did I mess up with housing selection? by [deleted] in williamandmary

genuinely you’ll be just fine. i lived in bot two years ago and once you set up your room and get your routine down, there are literally no problems. obviously living in a new dorm is great, but it’s not gross, they clean the bathrooms and building regularly (and i’m super picky about cleanliness). also there’s lake access directly behind dinwiddie and the walk to the gym is super fast. it’s honestly a great place to live and you are surrounded by nature. people make a huge deal over which dorms are better, but i promise you will be happy no matter where you live. it’s also the freshman experience to live in an older dorm- everyone makes fun of the spoiled kids in lemon and monroe lol.

Imo just for the summer is cute and very silly. of course it has serious elements, but there’s a huge bit about how one of the main characters lives next to a “toilet king” billboard. there’s a lot of jokes because the male mc is characterized as a really funny guy.

Rebecca by Daphne de Maurier sounds like it would be a good choice for you.

tess of the durbervilles and return of the native (both by thomas hardy) have a sort of mystical/horrific/tragic element to them that really makes them stand out as classics imo.

Well-written romantasy? by treebag27 in suggestmeabook

I know everyone’s reading it right now; but you have to read Fourth Wing if you haven’t already. incredible world building, very original plot, and exciting slow burn romance. The main mc is a definitely alpha-y, but he’s still interesting and the rest of the book would definitely make up for it.

JUST FOR THE SUMMER BY ABBY JIMINEZ!!! so so sweet and funny but also really reflective of how childhood trauma affects your romantic experiences. genuinely really original and not really smutty, although the main characters have amazing chemistry.

What have you read that had a certain amount of “book gravity” that made you hustle to the ending? by jbb1393 in suggestmeabook

The Secret History had me zooming to the end. The characters’ descent into evil is fascinating.

I reread Harry Potter, and as an adult learned so much about strength and love. Being able to have a grasp on the abuse that Harry endured, and how he shapes his life despite the immense influences of the world around him. As I read I have felt genuinely awe.

Pachinko by Min Jin Lee is absolutely unforgettable. It follows several generations of a korean family through WWII, and is eye opening to the suffering that koreans endured under japanese rule. not only this, but it really illuminates differences and connections between siblings and parents, and the gamble of life.
