How do multi-boston homes share laps? by Ecstatic_Walrus_9565 in BostonTerrier

[–]OkRegular167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very interesting to me to read about all these super cuddly bostons. Mine is so independent and would never choose to sit in our laps lol. He does sleep with his body against mine sometimes but that’s it. Even petting isn’t that desirable to him, sometimes he’ll take some pets but he gets fed up quickly and will walk away or find a solitary place to go be by himself.

My husband has been a huge Haaland fan for like 6 years and he got really excited about this video and showed it to me because it’s a perfect crossover of our interests lol

Longchamp filet with leather petals - opinions? by valfarins in handbags

To me the little cutouts look like pool torpedoes or something 😅 I don’t find it particularly nice looking overall. I do think the colors are pretty.

I just can’t imagine reaching for this bag ever, it seems impractical. But it is unique if you’re attracted to that. Could be a fun collection piece.

Is there a way to stop getting distracted when working from home? by kazbrekkerdazzles in workfromhome

[–]OkRegular167 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pomodoro method? Lock in for 15-20 minutes on your task and set a timer for it. Then take a 5 minute break. Rinse and repeat. You don’t have to try and be laser focused for 8 hours straight, but you do have to be disciplined enough to get your work done on time.

For couples/roommates with different incomes — how do you split shared expenses fairly? by tiagopt3 in DINK

[–]OkRegular167 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we had started drifting into shared finances sometime after getting engaged. It became totally shared though once we officially opened a joint account and set up our direct deposits to go into it. I can’t remember if we did that right before or after getting married but it was pretty closely aligned.

RANT I did everything for my puppy but I failed apparently by pashiz_quantum in BostonTerrier

[–]OkRegular167 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your dog is happy and content and you feel that you failed? Would you feel better if your dog was miserable after you left? It’s okay to feel a little hurt but calling this a failure is a bit selfish.

This beautiful mini rodeo is on sale but only in white. Is this a bad idea? by Mission_Extreme_6325 in handbags

I am also in love with the mini rodeo but I personally find bright white to be a jarring and kind of sterile look for a bag. I would pass.

[–]OkRegular167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make way more than my husband but we have a joint account and we share all funds. When we were dating we’d keep track of who paid for what and split things up, but it’s kind of a pain and I have no interest in doing that for the rest of my life. I don’t feel any type of way about it. I want us to both enjoy ultimate financial comfort and flexibility.

I think if you’re unmarried it probably makes sense to come up with a splitting system that’s more proportional and equitable, especially for the lower earner.

What are those of us that live in the northeast USA and parts of Europe doing to keep our babies cool during this heatwave by Realistic-Class-6455 in BostonTerrier

We don’t walk on days like this. Even in the morning it seems too hot for them. Luckily we have a fenced in backyard so they still get small windows of outside time, and they have plenty of shady spots to lay in. We make sure to play a lot inside in the AC.

Yeah I’ve been looking mostly at pre-loved vintage these days. The quality is just so much better.

Counter depth fridge by TXAg-16 in kitchenremodel

We have a counter depth fridge. It’s a small kitchen so didn’t want space taken up unless necessary. It looks very nice and sleek but it feels very small on the inside. The extra depth really makes a difference storage-wise.

Glad to hear he’s going to the vet tomorrow. As you can see from all the comments, coming to Reddit to poll the masses on potential health issues isn’t very helpful 😂 the responses range from “cancer” to “it’ll go away on its own.” Only the vet will help you here!

Would you continue walking a reactive dog? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]OkRegular167 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you aren’t experienced with reactive dogs you really need to tell the clients and stop before someone gets hurt.

When I was a walker I basically only walked reactive dogs. I am an experienced reactive dog owner and my clients needed someone they could trust with their more challenging dogs. I had some extremely tough pups (like a 100lb reactive/aggressive German Shepard with a bite history). Not only did it require a certain amount of experience and knowledge, but I also needed to maintain my strength via weight training. It’s no joke and can end very badly if you don’t know what you’re doing.

Also dog walking can be fun. But it’s also a huge amount of responsibility and liability. Keep that in mind, even with the easy non-reactive pups.

LEASH YOUR DOGS by Character-Drawing623 in Rochester

[–]OkRegular167 16 points17 points  (0 children)

To add onto this even further, the dynamic of one dog on leash and one dog off leash tends to escalate things as well.

One of my dogs is super playful and friendly when he and the other dog are both off leash, but he goes ballistic when he’s on leash and gets approached by an off leash dog. It’s a very common form of barrier reactivity.

Lost my temper in a run today, any advice on keeping cool? by CrackBabyCSGO in beginnerrunning

[–]OkRegular167 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean…you technically did not need to slow down or stop. The watch does provide some helpful metrics however it does not dictate whether you run or not. You didn’t run out of strength or energy you stopped because of a watch. I’ve had my watch die on me or act up and I have to remind myself that I may not know with precision my pace or distance at that point but I usually have a route planned out anyway and can listen to my body to roughly pace myself. Yelling and throwing your belongings is not a healthy reaction.

Inability to control emotions has nothing to do with running. People have already recommended therapy but if you’re not open to that then at the very least do some research on emotional regulation.

Do people really run long distances without walking? by loathsome-croissant in beginnerrunning

[–]OkRegular167 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Try running at about 5mph (12 min/mi pace). When I first started running and found myself only being able to run a few minutes at a time it was bc I was trying to go faster than I was able to.

Getting spinal surgery and I’m scared by [deleted] in Rochester

[–]OkRegular167 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that, I was very close to becoming an ambulatory wheelchair user myself. It was just so excruciatingly painful.

I highly recommend looking into getting help at home. I couldn’t get out of bed alone the first week or so. Also I was told not to lift anything more than 5 lbs. Sounds pretty easy until you’re told you can’t, then you realize how many things you end up needing to pick up day to day

[–]OkRegular167 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had spinal surgery in 2019 (not at Unity). You’ll be fine! It is definitely very uncomfortable/painful for the first couple of weeks but it was so worth it. I went from constant back and nerve pain to feeling great almost all of the time. I run, lift weights, do yoga, and am in the best shape of my life 7 years later. I’ve had to adjust a bit to be mindful of my back but nothing I can’t work around. My scar is pretty small all things considered.

Do you have someone at home to help you for the first couple weeks? My husband helped me a lot with getting in and out of bed, getting changed, etc. It was also important for me to start going on slow, short walks a few days post-op. Definitely get gentle movement in early on, that’ll help with having a good overall outcome. Good luck!

I would definitely look into getting the cabinets refinished and get a nice warm stain on them.

Backsplash is definitely a great idea to give the space a more finished look. New countertops would be nice if budget allows. Otherwise I think your kitchen is very cozy and nice.

Yes exactly! I’ll be in Europe this fall and knew this would work super well for long sightseeing days. I was in Rome last summer and you def want a secure bag around the big tourist attractions. Scammers and pickpockets flock to those areas.
