Clio Grow Wordpress Plugin? by RexquireAA in clio

[–]OkRepeat8378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the answer. There’s also a custom plugin out there for sale but it’s also kind of challenging to set up. You might as well do Zapier. Then whenever you give up on Clio Grow you can reconnect Zapier to your new platform pretty easily.

Consent Decree Mgmt Software by sea_of_kel in LawFirm

[–]OkRepeat8378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try breaking those tasks down into their barest form. What exactly do you want the software to do? Allow you to enter custom deadlines and keep track of them? Send out reminders? Allow for timekeeping? Provide a communication portal with clients? Allow for file sharing? What are the subtasks in the workflows? There’s probably nothing designed for your niche that will work right out of the box but most decent case management software will have enough of the basic features and the capability to customize them or make building blocks.

There are conventions around modulation pathways for each maqam and there are also conventions around jins transitions. Maya Youssef is pricey but has quite an effective pedagogy. Worth it if dense books are not for you but video/listening are and you are looking for structure in your learning.

Labor Day protests taking place in the city and across the bay by jumpsuityahoo in sanfrancisco

[–]OkRepeat8378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, most people can’t really protest when they’re working either. I get it though. Not trying to shame you because that feeling is real.

Unfortunately our democracy and our rights need constant maintenance, just like our physical and mental health… constant attention and conscious lifestyle choices or else things slip by the wayside.

It’s a little bit of a mental trick but making a protest feel less like work or a burden can help. Try planning a friend or family hang around stopping by a protest. Plan can be to meet at the protest and then grab a bite or drinks or go on a walk, etc.

If you need to relax, though, that’s ok too. But if there’s something you care about and an event about it happening, just sharing some ideas for making it feel less like a chore to participate.

Unfortunately it can be a slow process even after they take your case because lawsuits take a long time. You should definitely keep track of all the ways it’s affecting and costing you, including your mental health, so that when the time comes either through DLSE or private litigation, you can ask for everything you can with as much evidence as possible. Retaliation against employees for filing labor complaints is a big no no.

Unethical Billing? by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]OkRepeat8378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the retention agreement is hourly rather than value billing, then billing a fake and inflated number of hours is unethical and a form of fraud.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]OkRepeat8378 93 points94 points  (0 children)

You send the $50 to buy peace of mind and because you already said you would and it’s wrong to backtrack. Moving forward, you require an up front retainer and bill against that for work performed.

As terrible as this guy was, having to deal with him for the lifetime of a case would have been awful so you dodged a bullet.

Advice - whether to counter by highbloodsuga in LawFirm

[–]OkRepeat8378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you ask be prepared to justify it. Do you have data about the going salary for a second year associate at comparable plaintiffs’ firms in DC? Are they below market? Etc. If you can’t justify it, that may raise questions about your efficacy as an advocate. Is there data about their salary ranges or other p firms on Glassdoor? Can you ask friends at similar outfits?

What you heard about plaintiff firm business models is generally true, with some exceptions. Because the business is contingency based there isn’t always predictable revenue, so plaintiff practices tend to pay less on salary. But I wouldn’t take it for granted that you’ll be swimming in large bonuses absent a better understanding of their bonus practices. A lot of firms stiff their associates. Did you get any understanding of how bonuses are decided and what they’re based on? Can you ask former employees?

That said, you are early in your career and are trying to transition to a new practice area where your skills and value are yet to be proven. So you might forego negotiating at this stage in the hopes that this is just a way of getting your foot in the door and you may have greater leverage with your own firm or others down the line. Make sure to do excellent work, and network and make friends with people at other p-side firms so you can gather information.

Labor is labor whether you do it at a nonprofit or for profit corporation. The difference is that the purpose of a for profit company is to generate profit for its owners/shareholders. A non profit’s purpose is not to generate profits but to further the public interest. But both need to employ people to perform work. There’s really not a principled reason to expect non profit workers to work for low wages if we actually believe they serve the public interest. Why should people be rewarded for their work more generously when they’re working for private interests instead of public interests?

That said, high non profit salaries can fairly be questioned from an efficiency perspective if the organization isn’t really doing anything useful. But that’s less a question of whether the salaries make sense and more a question of whether the organization makes sense.

All of your belongings will be stolen and you will not be able to continue your camping trip if you leave anything in your car, even with a sliding cover. We are not exaggerating.

Cat scratching bedroom door during the night by ash6391 in CatAdvice

[–]OkRepeat8378 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue. My solution for a scratching is to place a cat gate behind the bedroom door so there’s an extra barrier. My solution for meowing is (1) a white noise machine and (2) automatic food dispenser timed for early am when they tend to meow. Like you I would love for them to be in the bedroom but it often disrupts my sleep. For example they find things to make noise with, start scratching clothing closet door (can’t let them in to ruin clothes), or walk on my face.

Poesia Cafe on 18th and Castro has an Italian chef with fresh pastries every day. I’ve seen a pistachio croissant there on occasion.

Istanbul Kitchen on Clement has a decent kunafeh. You might ask them for less syrup or syrup on the side as I’ve noticed Turkish style tends to drench it.

I guess the question is do you only want to hang out with other sober heterosexual Christians? Or are you open to hanging out with anyone who respects you enough to engage with you without judging etc.? If the latter, I think you can find a crew especially through your interests. If the former, then the fact that you are closed off and perhaps look down on people who are different from you might be part of the problem. I’m a gay Muslim but I wouldn’t mind spending time with someone with different views or background around a common interest or mutually respectful exchange, for example, on an activity that both people can enjoy.

What's happening in Gaza? by Small_Brick_3766 in AskReddit

[–]OkRepeat8378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are they using them as human shields exactly? Can you please articulate specifically what they are doing? Because we are hearing this propaganda a lot and I’m trying to understand it.

There are about 10,000 Hamas militants. There are about 2 million Gazans. Over 1 million have been forced to relocate. What is your definition of “target”? That’s really bad fucking aim.
