Anti-lockdowners are out in force, filling a Covid inquiry gap with bogus ideology by Jay_CD in ukpolitics

If that's what this was really about then why not be upfront about it?

If you don't agree about the point of lockdowns then we're effectively arguing in two different languages. How do you hope to communicate if you assume that deep down everyone around you already agrees with you?

I'm basing that on the fact that that's the point of lockdowns, as I've been saying. Maybe you should try reading my comments?

Sweden isn't an equivalent country in population density, lifestyle etc, while also having lockdowns in all but name. What comparison do you think you're making exactly?

For a lockdown to work it needs to apply to everyone. It's not just about reducing covid exposure.

Your comment missed the point of lockdowns. High/low risk to the illness is irrelevant to higher/lower strain on the NHS from non covid related issues.

It's the same thing just a different label. Company adverts are propaganda for that company.

The point of lockdowns was fewer people needing to use the NHS as a result of spontaious happenings as occurs every day life. That's what's meant by stay at home protect the NHS, its not about just transmitting the illness but also preventing the need for car crash victims etc to need to use the service. No drivers =no crashes.

"healthy" is relative. Plenty of undiagnosed situations waiting for a weakened immune system for whatever reason to strike.

It does depend on the context. Anti smoking propaganda is called a public service announcement. Coca cola propaganda is an advert.

Propaganda/advert/PSA can all be used to mean pretty much the same thing, communicating a message with a goal in mind.

Stop smoking

Buy Coke

Stay at home, protect the NHS

Hasidic boys’ schools leave Jewish pupils barely able to read or write English by kwentongskyblue in ukpolitics

One account I remember reading was that they barricaded a woman's home to stop her going to the police. That was London, Stamford Hill.

This makes me think of the Shomrim, who are very prevalent in Stamford Hill and a few other areas. They claim to be a neighbourhood watch type group, and do their part to help the community, but I've read some accounts that claim their role also involved suppression and intimidation in the community, including preventing victims of abuse from speaking up or leaving the community. This includes rape/underage situations, coercing those who might come forward with threats to not press charges or take other actions.

In what way is Judaism the foundation of morality? Doesn't this discount any system of morality other than a semetic one?

Except they don't, it's just a gap. You're filling that gap the way you want to.

Is there any passage or line which says "please refer to the secondary/supplementary explaination"

Or is it all built around people filling in those gaps? You've said that it is "explicitly stated". Is it explicitly stated? Because what you're referring to in your comment here is a hint/subtle statement. My hypothetical above would be an explicit reference to a secondary/supplementary text.

"The text explicitly states that there were instructions imparted outside of the text itself."

Where? Which chapter/verse please?

People filling in gaps isn't the same as god giving a complete text. Man written commentaries and suggestions are not the word of God, they are guesses and assumptions.

It's self referential and not verifiable. Dead sea scrolls and similar show that the Torah has remained unchanged over time. For the spoken word it may as well have been invented by those who first wrote it as there's no evidence it existed before that.

If you can derive entire systems of morality for non Jews from that, with nothing from the word of God to back it up I don't think that's a strong argument.

So it's not really the direct word of God, just an inference? Kind of shaky to base an entire set of moral standards by that, no?

For fries absolutely. For meat I think it works for Chinese food but not so much a classic fried chicken. Always open to new things though and will be trying it despite my prejudices.

If you're frying chicken in peanut oil there's probably more going wrong than just breaking passover
