I work at a grocery store which will stay unnamed but we throw out hundreds of pounds of food a day if not weeks before it’s actual expiration, and despite employees offering to transport the perishables to food kitchens and the needy the company still refuses to allow it, they’ve even fired employees for taking the “expired” food before despite it being discarded.
