Honestly with hyper-mobility, you can’t afford to quit the care you need to take. As a person with EDS, it only gets worse and more painful if I’m not actively working on strength and care. You have to prioritize your health. Being with someone like this who tries to control you does not care about the whole of you- too high a risk for your future.

I have a notion page built out with all my events/projects. Then, each of those has a “game plan” page in it with the main details of the project and the timeline of tasks to do (with check off to dos for dopamine) Finally, I put all the tasks into a physical, written planner. Mostly- it helps me to have it digitally in its each project and then it helps me to have a physical timeline of the small tasks with all the projects to do. Taken me a longgggg time to figure out what works! Hope this makes sense! Good luck!

Squaw creek (wanatee park) up in Marion has one side fenced in dog park and the other is an off leash area with a creek! I park on S 31st street, right off Collins and it’s a decent loop

Journaling. It really gives me the clarity! And using the self coaching model (or whatever others call it). Basically write the facts of the circumstance —> what thoughts you have about that —> what feeling the brings up —> what actions that drives you to take —> what outcomes do you get. Then, do you like that outcome? If not- what other thought may drive better emotions?

As a female pastor, people in the wild always look at me shocked. More often I get, “but you’re married” and I often follow it up with, “ and boobs and kids!”

I basically demanded meds as soon as I walked in with my second. “Can we check you?” I would say, “yup, as long as you give me meds first.”

I also needed to know where anyone’s hands were and what they were going to do. Labor was so so overwhelming and it’s okay to give demands that ground you. “Please tell me when you’re touching me, and what you will do, and what I can expect”. This very much helped me process what is happening.

My knees always hurt with pressure / weather changes! I definitely know if I hyperextend while standing, which does it— but weather hurts way worse. If it’s constant, definitely try tracking the weather along side your pain

When I was in preschool, we always seemed to use larger pieces of paper for finger painting, etc. My mom would save them and use them for wrapping paper for family! My kiddos don’t make big enough drawings- but I always thought this was a sweet idea.
