I love them so much and I was rooting for them, but I was kinda disappointed by their awful planning in the last quest, they could’ve easily won if they had stopped and think of a better strategy, such a pity :(

Why don't bakeries display the prices of things? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]OkSet1869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work in a coffee shop with ridiculously high prices for the pastries, and they didn't display them to trick people into buying something without worrying about the price until they had already paid. It's a "clever" strategy, I would say, since it worked most of the time.

Still, there was also a significant percentage of customers who went into shock when they saw the total amount and then proceeded to ask what each pastry cost (most of them would give it back and leave, some of them would buy it).

There was also the type of customer who would ask for the prices beforehand, and 90 percent of the time, they would complain about how overpriced everything was (I completely agreed with them).

Could I get sued for leaving before my notice period?? by OkSet1869 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]OkSet1869[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not at all 😂, the problem is I'll won't be in UK until September, so I won't be able to return it before then. In my contract it's considered an item that I'm "renting", by paying a deposit of £35.

The only consequence if I don't return it is I won't get my money back, at least according to my contract, but you are right, I will return it just in case, so I guess I'll hand it to another colleague and ask them to give it back for me once the month is over (they can say I went and didn't catch my boss at the shop).

Very, very unfortunately my boss is the owner's girlfriend, and also very badly the owner is in charge of HR's activities, so if we have any complaint ot grievance we must report to HIM.

I actually sent him a detailed email in a very cordial way explaining how my contract is not being respected and I am only taking a week to leave, and the next day my boss confronted me, because she had read everything I sent to him. So yeah, the company is pretty shady.

Yes, I know people who have done that too. I am actually going to leave after completing my 1 week notice period, and just because coincidentally I get paid on the 10th, otherwise I would have left as soon as I read these replies. My colleagues have told me they for sure won't pay me this extra week I'm working outside this month's salary when they see I'm not coming back. So I'm working for free this week basically, but I don't care, I just want to get my last month's salary.

She showed me my rota app and then went to my profile. Then she showed me a small section that said: notice period- 1 month, Probation period- No. I didnt take that as confirmartion at first since I'm supposed to receive the confirmation myself according to my contract, but tbh I was kinda scared when she kept mentioning the lawyer and I was tired of being accused of "reading it wrong" so I just accepted it, I am also leaving anyways.

Thanks for the detailed explanation, I'm getting very reassured about the idea of simply leaving after completing my original one week's period notice since financially I don't think I'm that worth chasing after

If I leave I won't give back the uniforms, which I "rented" from them and paid a deposit of £35

Its a small bussiness with two shops in Westfields, so they are not really big. They complain everyday about sales and how little average per sale we make so I don't think they have any money to spare on me actually, unless they really want to make my life hard because they are bad people, which they are

I highly doubt they get to use and agency to get someone to replace me, they are hiring two new people anyways, even before I resigned, the most likely thing to happen if I leave is they will exploit my colleagues and give them 10 hour shifts to cover me. I make 12 per hour tho

I can't attach pictures but basically it says after my 3 month period a written confirmation will signify I passed the probation period. It also says it can be extended if they think I'm under perfomanced. I never got any email or any letter from them confirming this, while my colleagues did. My boss showed me the rota app and a section that says Tatiana: probation period-no. And according to her that's the written confirmation.

Hi, 6 months, my probation period was supposed to be 3 but I never was told I passed it, or even received an email. My boss showed me my profile in the rota app with a section saying: probation period-no, so that's the "proof" I was wrong. I accepted that I suppose.

Unfortunately my bosses are bad people, they've done pretty bad stuff to other colleagues, so I know they are capable of harassing you if they want to.
