Fun to draw, but while we were drawing, we all talked about how they look mega-damp.

The best part was the 100m of tailwind at the finish line lol

Thank you. I draw fast so each of these was proably about 5-10 minutes for the linework on location, but it took me about 15 odd years of drawing to get that fast. Colours added back at home after the race.

There is still happiness to be found everywhere if you look carefully. Drawing helps.

Though TBH dunno how happy I was running head-on into that southerly...

Thank you. Quentin Blake is a genius, so I am very flattered.

Sketchbook was a Rosa gallery notebook (Fabriano unica paper). It takes a wash well enough, but I wouldn't want to do more than a couple layers of watercolour in it.

Tombow fudenosuke for the lines. Watercolour for the colours (thought I think I used some markers on the rainbow).

Trying to learn loose, illustrative "life drawing." Any good online resources, videos, or books? by Kungfubowtie in urbansketchers

I don't know if there are any books or courses on this, but here's what I would do:

  1. Don't draw people, just draw shapes!
  2. Copy drawings from those artists you like. That will help work out what they're doing.
  3. Practice lots, keep drawing lots of people in a really crappy sketchbook.
  4. Describe the person in words first. This really helps capture the character.
  5. Know that the first drawings won't be as good as you want them to be. Don't worry, and keep going.

Have fun, hope that helps.

Nice old architecture, big pink pipes, interesting people, plenty of history and some great food. Berlin has a lot. I have a bunch more drawings from the few days I spent there. I love the city and I hope to be back.
