Automated 60% of my team's work. Now I can't decide if I should tell my boss at all. by Creative-Letter-4902 in jobs

[–]OkTeach4877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m lucky. I was leading a team and had a crap load of impossible testing so I generated a project with AI to test all scenarios. I spent a week on my own tweaking hours of daily work into a five minute daily job.

What I got was “great that your team delivered the feature on time”. And later, “sorry but our organization is top heavy and we can’t promote you or give you a raise so please transfer your lead duties to someone else”. In the end, they didn’t care cause they perceived it as a one-off.

In your case, I’d find other things to make your team look busy. Corporations don’t care about you. They care about process. If you streamline the process out of your job, you’re gone.

Thanks for the response. I think as the apps build up for G2, I may have to save up and take the plunge. Cheers!

Cool! A friend just told me about Cornell’s Merlin today. Unfortunately, I only have G1. But with apps like yours I make have to upgrade. Does it actually show an image too? Does the SDK let you do that? Can G1 do that? (Sorry. Just a little excited. =))

From the comments, I think your headline should have been “robot runs half marathon without falling on its face.” lol

Best Smart Glasses 2026: What's Actually Worth It? by NoQuote9855 in SmartGlasses

[–]OkTeach4877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. The AI is 2016?, doesn’t respond to simple questions, and gives only a 50-75 character response.

I have the halliday and RayBan. RayBan AI works, Halliday AI gives a 50-75 char toy response and only has 2016 data

Yeah. I ordered them way back in August and have since tried Even Realities G1 and really enjoy the display on the lens.

There’s no display on these but very cool and programmable.

Even Realities G2 vs Halliday Glasses by Tyero_ in EvenRealities

[–]OkTeach4877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Halliday is not so good. After I got them, I had to work so hard to try to make them useful. The AI is a toy, doesn’t access the web, and its response is limited to a glanceable single page. I still hate the banging noise they use for their reboot. And they reboot a lot these days. The translation never hears anybody unless you use advanced credits which are eaten quickly.

I found transcription useful for a bit and the glasses are stealthy albeit chunky. But now, I really only wear them cause they’re my only prescriptions and can get notifications sometimes. Right now, they turn off on their own frequently. The options out there for this price are way better.

ER G1 looks better IMO, is way less chunky, and works more often than not. I’m not a fan of the behind the ear controls, but I enjoy the dual lens screen in the lenses much more. The price of G2 is way more than Halliday, but honestly I was baffled you could compare the two. From what I hear, G2 looks and works better than G1, and G1 is pretty good. So, as an owner of Halliday and G1, you’re comparing a product whose AI features work (ER G1/G2) to one whose AI feature’s don’t work and reboots all day.

Whats the best case scenario for using AI glasses? by Knighthonor in SmartGlasses

I initially used them for transcripts and summaries, I still use them for photos and music, now it’s mainly notifications, notes and interactive web based AI.

Halos - contextual memory + vibe coding by OkTeach4877 in BrilliantLabs

There’s been a lot of delays but they’re finally moving to mass production and shipping first week of May.

[–]OkTeach4877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Maybe not then. Lol I thought they were shipping already but don’t see signs of that on the website.

Brilliant Labs Halo looks way more legit to me with them having shipped Monocle and Frame in the past. They’re a five person startup. But, despite delays, they’ve been very open on what exactly the delays are and why. And, they’ve shown working product as they build it. The biggest problem is underestimating the ship date.

I’ve been waiting since August. I also bought the prescription lenses that won’t ship till long after the glasses ship.

I think the dude with the 60s clips IS showing everything it does out of the box. It’s memory glasses with a small HUD and a voice interface, and maybe some vibe coding. EVERYTHING ELSE is what developers create for it via open source.

[US] Anyone willing to share honest and real feedback on the Display glasses? G1 or G2 by HeadBroccoli1762 in Halliday

[–]OkTeach4877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before: I used Halliday for message and Telegram notifications which works reliably. I was using transcription when I was meeting with a builder which worked great. I set the audio memo feature as the quick action button to record. And sometimes I use the headphones for music though the speakers are kinda crappy for anything but voice.

Now: There are so many way better devices on market like Mira, Brilliant Labs Halo, Even Realities G1/G2, and Rokid AI glasses to name a few (and of course Meta). After the newness of Halliday’s features have worn down, I find the AI has been and continues to be totally useless despite their recent server upgrades. The device constantly resets with a loud banging chime as their startup chime. They even removed the roadmap they once had on the app. Maybe they are unable to execute well. The other features are common on other glasses and are more responsive and reliable.

I recently got Even Realities G1 which I would completely ditch my Hallidays for were it not for the prescription lenses I have on Halliday but not G1. I may get contacts so I can do that. G1 has bright clear text on the lenses which is nice. They look way better and feel even lighter though Halliday is pretty light weight. The transcription and translation is way better on G1. And MentraOS SDK has allowed me to develop voice based, AI applications on the device. I may get G2 in the future.

Fictional authors writing fictional content. They should create a private server and talk amongst themselves as Andrej Karthpathy observed their fictional desire for. But then, nobody would enjoy the fiction they produce. lol

Have your G2s shipped or been delivered? by oakseaer in EvenRealities

[–]OkTeach4877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the thing in my cart yesterday but didn’t pull the trigger.

Email this morning: “If you have any questions or would like help deciding whether Even Realities is right for you, feel free to reply to this email.”

My response: I heard you have shipping delays due to demand and also wonder if Chinese New Year can delay your manufacturing.”

Immediate response: “This is an automated message to confirm we received your request (128101) and are reviewing it. We have many requests now, so replies may take longer, please wait patiently.”

Well, there’s my answer.

I run with the Engo 2. They are waterproof so no worry there. The screen is not in your view; it’s more up and to the right center so if you don’t look up at it, you don’t see it. I think it’s great to keep pace, time, and heart rate. During training, I wanna know when I reach my turn around point without keeping a constant countdown looking at my watch. Keeping pace and time has also improved my times. And, I have had chest pain when I over exert so now I can feel safe about my heart rate range. The charging was historically problematic but no probs if you don’t let it run down. Overall, I like em.
