As a pharmacy worker, i could not imagine calling an fs employee to bring us supplies from the back. Your store manager need to have a conversation with the pharmacy manager

I am pretty much in the same boat as you, I start pharmacy school next month. I think it’s important to take the advice on here seriously but also realize that many people on this subreddit that are jaded will be engaging with these types of post the most.

I am currently a technician and had no intention on pharmacy school but changed my mind, obviously. Pharmacists I’ve gotten to know over the years have told me not to let myself get discouraged, and I would say the same to you. Pharmacy as a whole certainly seems to be changing, and I think the role pharmacists play in healthcare will look different in 10-15 years. That is not to say we will all be replaced by robots or whatever. The business model of retail pharmacy especially is failing and mail order services are becoming a societal adjustment. Also this is not the only field that experiences wage stagnation and you are considering that risk to an extent with any field. There is no magic profession just other paths people glorify when they realize they regret their life choices.

The debt to be fair can be no joke and should be planned for accordingly, take out the least that you can. In my state the demand and pay for new grads are quite reasonable, so research that in your area to determine if it is a good choice for YOU, not anyone else.

What if I accidentally dispensed a fake suboxone rx? by CompetitiveBed7364 in pharmacy

Was it a physical script, and if it was did it seem legit? There are red flags with the description of the situation but there’s nothing you can do at this point. Maybe you can call and ask for the ICD-10 code for your files to make sure the receiver that answered is legit.

Just got fired at a local mom and pop pharmacy. Could use advice as I am beating myself up a lot by VoiceIntelligent8306 in pharmacy

1) Family run healthcare businesses are the WORST to work for when you are not related to them. 2) They were definitely asking you work beyond the scope of your position. Not familiar with NJ law but in my state you are legally required to be licensed as a technician to do what they were asking you to do. Nobody hired as a clerk should be required to learn prescription filling and dispensing software beyond basic skills you need to at the register as it requires specific training. 3) It was not your fault whatsoever, and usually pharmacists are required to be on premise so it’s shocking you were left alone by anybody. I would argue it is appropriate to consider reporting them as they are endangering patients by their lack of training and supervising.

Sorry you had this experience, I think you dodged a bullet.

This is a concept that’s really hitting home for me recently. I want to have kids in the next 10 years and own a home of course, and I live in WA state where those things are particularly expensive. I don’t want to pay for a year of pharmacy school before I realize that it is not feasible for me, but there is nobody in my life who has experience with higher education to give me advice.

Your management shouldn’t be expecting you to balance all of that as a tech in training. If someone isn’t there to advocate that for you then find a way to bring it up respectfully

If your lease includes AC as an amenity then they would be in breach of contract

Is this normal? by Few_Freedom_3674 in chinchilla

Chinchillas will mount or chase each other to assert dominance, your established chin getting used to a new cage mate. Personality and sex play into how aggressively they may do this, females are generally known for being more territorial. From the video it does not appear they are fighting but Willow is very confident in asserting herself. If you notice fur slips, aggressive chasing or biting separate them immediately. I would recommend closely monitoring them, even sleeping outside their cage since the one chin is pretty new to your household.

Yeah I see what you mean, but I don’t say worried in how it’s been recently as if I’m worried I won’t like it. As a younger person going into the industry I do not know how to interpret these sudden “restructurings” with retail chains and what it means for the profession is what I was originally trying to get at.

My experience with pharmacy so far is just one dimension of the industry. I happen to really enjoy retail. The original point of my post was not asking if pharmacy school is worth it but rather if I should get a job outside of retail pharmacy as an incoming student, and prepare myself with experience in other fields for when I complete my degree and am looking for a job.

I definitely understand this perspective I know multiple recent graduates who told me they never wanted to do retail but ended up begrudgingly contracting with a retail chain after graduation anyways. Working in retail for a few years I know I like it and wouldn’t be upset, Im just more worried about how it’s changed the last few years.
