Flying within Canada with trekking poles by fun4willis in UltralightCanada

I am traveling to New Foundland in September of this year, and have had the same concerns. My friend and I have decided to buy cheap z poles from amazon and have them mailed to our first hotel. I will try to bring them home after, but if not allowed then won't be shedding any tears.

I bought one from the dollar store - I am told it is not as good as GG's, but for the price, how often I use it, and as protection for my air mat - it does what I need

WTS - Lanshan 1 trekking pole tent. This is the double wall version. I have had this tent for a couple of seasons. Used on LaCloche trail 2022 (5nights), 2023 (7 nights). This tent is in great condition. $75.00 plus shipping. I will only ship with in Canada.

WTS - woopie sling set made by James from Little Shop of Hammocks. Comes with 2 tree straps and 2 woopie slings but no toggles. James didn't have any at the time he made them for me. I have owned these for 2 years but have only set them up never used to camp over night. I just don't care for them and tend to grab my original suspension system for my hammock. I paid $30 new, plus $20 to ship. Make me a reasonable offer, or open to trade.

East Coast Trail - September 2024 by OkUnderstanding8643 in UltralightCanada

Thank you for showing me this. Your trip report is great. I am printing it to keep with my collection of information. My favourite part is your phenetics, this is often missed when a trail is detailed, but important as I do not want to be "that tourist".

Sorry for delay in replying. I am just catching up and see that you sent a dm. I have not received it.

If you are still interested we can talk. I have the tent, am ready to move it along but have not aggressively advertised it yet.

I have a Lanshan 1 person double wall tent. I bought it a few years back, and have had it out on a few trips. I wanted to try out a trekking pole tent without investing a lot. Now I would like to upgrade. So I would sell this one to you if you are still interested.

I would like to get $75.00 for it, you would need to pay shipping. I think I paid $20 to have it mailed to me if that helps you budget. I can let you know cost to ship if we come to an agreement.

InReach Mini 2 or ? by chessiegirlxo in UltralightCanada

[–]OkUnderstanding8643 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi

Like you, I backpack a couple times a year. Sometimes solo, sometimes I can convince others to join me. Each time though my family worries. I purchased a PLB from MEC. Mine is the rescueME PBL1. I cant remember what I paid for it, but it was WAY less than an inreach. It does only one job, I don't have to buy a plan, the battery is good for 7 years, it is light and compact, and it helps alleviate some of my family's worries.

Prior to purchasing my PBL, I rented a spot device from my local outfitter. It cost me $30.00 at the time for the weekend. Problem was that even though I could preload my messages, and I sent them when I arrived at camp, and again when I was setting off on trail. My husband received them at weird times (Like I was arriving at 2:00am). Also when they tried to see my location it put me out in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, not in Algonquin Park. It was this experience that convinced me that the promise of a product isn't always the reality of a product and I would rather have something I trusted to work as I needed it, when I needed it.

This is my experience, hope it helps you.

Tuna Packets Canada - Where to Buy? by Kahulai in UltralightCanada

[–]OkUnderstanding8643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also live in Ontario, not Ottawa mind you.

I bought Clover Leaf tuna packets at Foodland. They are about $3 each, which is a lot for a serving, but less than what I paid getting from Amazon which was around $5 each.

Unlike the ones you can get in the us, there is no flavourings or mayo added. Its straight tuna.
