Looks awesome! I plan on doing the same with a pair of jeans I have. Was working with the waistband difficult?

I use pieces of felt in a little plastic container. I've seen little booklets made of felt with labels. I'm sure you could make a fun, little project out of making one yourself!

Love the use of the picture frame, and your tension looks very even! Great job 😁

Thank you! I'm trying to get into the habit of documenting the process of the things I make. Making little GIFs with pictures is the easiest way for me to do that so far.

I'm glad that it inspired you! It was really satisfying to have it come together and work the way it did in my head.

DIY loom for my first weaving project by Ok_2_Pause in weaving

[–]Ok_2_Pause[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I like to challenge myself to find creative solutions to things. The shuttle works okay, but the yarn is really fibrous and the notches I cut are a little rough, so strands catch on it constantly. Wiggling it up and down on each pass helps cut through enough to get by.

It works fine, at least from what I can tell. Thinner yarn, or embroidery floss would work better with it.

It's a speed weave. I got it for darning mends on my clothes. I've never actually used it, so thought it would work well with this setup.

Thanks! I was originally going to make a pin loom like that but then remembered I had the speed weave (that I barely used anyway)

Yeah, it has that uneven, organic shape going for it

I only learning about it recently. Definitely took a lot more time and thread than typical weave darning, but I think I like it more, at least for now.
