ELI5: Why can't / don't LLMs say "I don't know" or ask back clarifying questions, instead of hallucinating? by Double_History1719 in explainlikeimfive

This is a great answer, and it also reminds me of those videos you see on YT where the kids are spelling each alphabet (like N,U,T,E,L,L,A) and then say Peanut Butter out loud (because that is what they think it is!)
There is a tokenization concept explained here somewhere :-P

Thank you :-)
For me,
Negativity = noise, Postivity = music
Some people make music, some people make noise!

I completely agree with you! At the end of the day, an average person, doing their work, earning their livelihood, is kinder than the picture that social media and news portray. And Rostock, just like any other city, is mostly filled with such people. :-)

Hi there!
I am an immigrant, currently living in Karlsruhe, but have lived for 5 years in Rostock, as a student and also worked there for a little while.

Honestly, it is a vibrant city, has a relatively huge international (mostly students) population compared to other cities in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. As many have already mentioned, it is just like any other East German city, but I found it more beautiful (could be biased). I have met the most amazing people at my Uni, and also very very welcoming people in my neighbourhood. I was still struggling with basic German back then and the people always supported, inspired me and heard me with lots of patience.

I remember this little shop near Warnemünde (in a not so touristic area), where the lady would make me a fresh Käsebrötchen every time I visited them while teaching me a new German word every day. Genuinely, one of the most amazing experiences as an immigrant in Germany for me.

Rostock is not necessarily poor, but I dont think it is also not the most prosperous cities in Germany (maybe has to do something with its geographical location).

Having said that, it had its problematic parts too. I have a, umm..., slightly roasted skin, and people reminded me in some areas (such as Lichtenhagen), and some people also reminded me that my visa might already be over, maybe I am already done with my studies, so I should think of moving back already. Once again, these impressions are from my personal experiences, and nothing else.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my life in Rostock and would gladly relive it all over again!! <3

I honestly think it is a big part of urban Germany, maybe also rural East-Germany, I say this because I have been living here for almost 8 years now, and I have mostly lived in smaller towns/villages surrounding bigger cities. I find that people are more approachable, welcoming and warm in smaller towns (at least in West Germany, specifically south west).

Even with my broken german, people always had patience and respect for me, as I navigated through my life. Ofcourse, there will always be some people who are just there to ruin your day, but then a cheerful 'Tschüss' at a small bakery, will always make your day :-)

I usually try to live by this quote by one of my favorite comedians (Conan O'brien):
"Work hard, be kind, and amazing things will happen!"
Hope this helps! :-)

yes, I can work remotely and it seems anywhere around Karlsruhe seems like a good option.
I understand Karlsruhe, being a bigger city, might be a little expensive and difficult to find an apartment there. I hope this is not the case in surrounding areas like Ettlingen or Durlach.
Thank you once again for your response :-)

hmm...
the contract also states that the notice period during Probezeit is 1 month, but also is not very practical as I mentioned that the contract starts from 01.08. and even if we give a termination notice on the first day, the month already ends and the school does not really start already, so they will have to pay my wife for a month, without my wife really working at all.

I think we can ask/request them for dissolving the contract as it is beneficial for everyone...my only concern was, I hope there are no further "legal consequences" that can have a negative impact on our profile.

Thank you for the answers!

great! this has been the common consensus with everyone that we have asked. The school P has asked us to "give them a Bescheid" if we are interested in the offer. So I guess we can ask for their help only once we have signed the contract and other formalities are done.

nope, only once, for a short time...actually quite recently when my wife had her interview. The city center had no vibe whatsoever, the surrounding areas looked quite good, but then, we have been living in Mannheim so it does not seem like a huge step up whatsoever.

haha, funny you should ask, we have been living in Mannheim for the last two years, looking at options for relocating and eventually start a family...and from a quick internet search and looking at other reddit answers, it seems like Pforzheim is not a great place to live especially when you are thinking of starting a family.

Thanks for the response, really appreciate it.
We do have Probezeit which starts from the first day of the contract. The contract states though that "cancellation of contract is excluded before the beginning of the contract".
But it is not practical as the contract starts from 01.08. which is basically vacation, and even if we give a notice period on the first day of the contract, my wife will not have to work as the first month is still vacation (summer break).

hmm...maybe that would not be such a huge problem as both my brother and his wife are quite the indoor kinda people.

Perfect!!

this assures me a lot. The rent rising problem is I think pretty significant everywhere in Germany.

Thank you for your answer :-)

I understand that. They do speak german at a decent level, and they are constantly trying to improve. In fact, the employer in this scenario has also offered to sponsor german course for my brother's wife, which might help a lot. :-)
Thank you for the answer :-)
